Hi is there anyone out there in the same boat as me so to speak. I have struggled trying to diet at meetings for years and finally after 16 years decided that I am going to take myself in hand and lose weight by calories on the NHS website. I have over four stone to lose in total and could do with all the support I can get . anyone out there keen to be a buddy.

Hi I am!

I was successful on slimming world lost over 4 stone, but was 18 so life was simple! Now I have a family SW isn't really for me x

WW again was ok but I hate thinking of food 24/7 x

I have joined the NHs thing but still waiting to find my motivation x

I think today I will print out the sheets so I can make a start! X

I have tried them all too, Atkins, Rosemary connelly, weight watchers and slimming world! I am 50 this year and really overweight but have decided I wont be fat at 50! I am 5 weeks into the NHS diet and have lost

18 lbs, I want to lose another 2 stone though!!

A dry January inspired me and I'm finding calorie control and portion size is helping loads. If I can do it. then it really is possible, as I have no self control and am rubbish at diets. I have decided that this is the way for me for ever and I feel ok with that! Good luck and would be very happy to encourage and support as I definately need it too !

I tried all of those diets in the past - lost a few stone, then promptly piled it all back on again!

I lost the three stone I needed to on the 5:2 Diet after watching Michael Mosley's excellent Horizon programme in 2012, "Eat, Fast and Live Longer" tinyurl.com/qzgo7tq or tinyurl.com/a8ppjl7 and went from a size 16 to a size 10 by eating 500 calories two non-consecutive days a week. I've been maintaining my weight loss since April 2013 by just fasting one day a week - in the past I piled the weight back on as soon as I finished 'dieting'. I'd very much recommend you read Kate Harrison's book, "The 5:2 Diet" (tinyurl.com/qe6mz4u) - it really does work and it will save you a fortune (towards your smaller clothes!).

I'd also very much recommend a free app for your phone called MyFitnessPal. Counting calories is very important so you can see how much you're eating and therefore eat mindfully rather than mindlessly. There are excellent videos in the Help section on the app that show you how it works - there's even a barcode reader to scan in branded foods.

It's important you don't eat more than your TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) on non-fasting days. You can work that out here thefastdiet.co.uk/how-many-.... If yours works out at more than 2000 then aim at 2000 on non-fasting days.

Here I am in the Daily Mail on 7th January tinyurl.com/m7rqecq. The other two ladies’ stories are inspiring!

Here Michael Mosley answers many questions on it dailymail.co.uk/health/arti...

My fitness pal works for me and my partner .He lost over 4 stone and I have lost just over 2 with half a stone to go .The 5:2diet works as well.I have tried slimming clubs but didn’t work for me. Also I have a fit bit which motivates me to move more .

Good luck 🌺🌻

Hi there Deb

Been there done that too! Plus I want to lose 4 stone.

I’m a newbie and decided to change my approach to my weight loss. I HAVE to find a way that works for me. I’m focussing on nutrition and kind of following the F2 but to be honest it’s just plain simple healthy eating.

One week in and I feel so much better physically and mentally.

I’m glad you’re here and look forwards to reading your posts
