Good luck! My stepdaughter has done this, lost about half her body weight using this. She did her best to explain it to me. I couldn't get my head around it. I've now discovered a different system after trying any others, and so far it seems to be working. It's high protein low carb. I intend to give it ago for one month, until we go away in late May.

Hello, yes I have been with the slimming world program for about 4 years. I lost 5 stone, in just over a year, & have kept it off for the last 3 years on the maintain program. I have now given up smoking after 30 years & have put on approx 2 stone, lol now I feel ready to restart the slimming world diet & lose the excess. I just hope it goes as well the second time. Lots of nice recipes if you love cooking. Good luck :-)

Hi, yes I go to Slimming World. I have lost 11stone 9lbs over 2 1/2years with them and now weigh less than when I left primary school. Slimming World is the first healthy eating plan that I have really been able to stick with as there is so little weighing and measuring and it fits in so well with all the family. Keep in touch, and good luck.

Congratulations that's a massive achievement!

Can you really eat as much "free" food as you want?

Any other tips?

Basically, yes, you can eat as much free as you want, but to be honest, you will find that on the eating plan, you are filling up at meal times and so you really don't want to have much more. But if you are having a 'bad' day, its not a problem to have a good extra 'free' meal! Things I have found that have helped me

- we go out quite a bit for day trips, instead of buying sandwichesand crisps and cakes at lunch time, I grab a salad bowl from the supermarket, add some extra ham, then have some fruit of one of the healthy extra B cereal bars.

- always have salad and fruit in, then if you need a snack, you have 'free' foods at the ready.

- nearly all recipes can be adapted, if you have some that you really enjoy, work with it and make substitutes e.g. fromage frais instead of cream works well!

- the biggest and most important tip - be honest with yourself, we all know that 'just one won't hurt' but it is the 'just one won't hurt' that helped me get to my highest weight of 23 1/2 stone, so 'just one' will hurt. Be honest when you have over synned, if I look back at the weeks where 'I can't believe I gained' then if I am honest, it was the sneaky couple of chocolates, or the just a couple of chips, or the bit of cake I forgot about when I was out with friends.

- don't ever say 'I can't have' its too negative and makes you feel deprived, instead say 'I can have it but I CHOOSE NOT TO' this puts you totally in control. But then again, there really is nothing you cannot have, its just a case of everything in moderation and make sure you count the syns.

After a lifetime - well over 40 years of dieting (I was first put on slimming pills by my doctor when I was just 16) I can honestly say, this is the first time in my life I have actually enjoyed eating food, before it was a means to an end and comfort food, now I crave fruit, salad and brightly coloured healthy foods, I cannot face eating crap anymore.

Stick with it, it does work! But then again, any plan will work if you stick with it properly, and SW is not always the best one for every person, if you enjoy the plan you are following, it will work.

Great tips...... Thank you.

I've lost six pounds this week. Still a long way to go but I'm very pleased!

I best you've changed your wardrobe a few times!

Too true, from a size 32/34 stretchy clothes to a size 8/10 fitted. Its bright colours all the way now, short skirts, even skinny jeans and all the stuff I could never wear in the past. I can shop just about anywhere now, and clothes are all so much cheaper. Other hidden benefits are the fact that I don't have to use the washing machine so much as the clothes are half the size so get more in the drum at the same time and ironing takes half the time as the clothes fit on the ironing board without having to be moved over all the time. JOY lol
