Hi
Welcome to the group and well done on making a positive decision to put yourself first
Ive been on my weight loss journey for 8 weeks and have lost 1st 9 (23lbs) i still have a very long way to go, but more than happy to share my journey so far with you.
I started doing simple exercise on top of my usual daily activities, i used my wii fit board to do step ups for 10-30 mins whilst watching tv and when i went into town instead of busing i walk which has helped, as my weight as decreased i have increased my exercise i now have a yoga ball and a set of weights which i use at least every other day and i have a vivofit fitness band which counts my steps and distance i walk etc which i find motivates me to keep me walking instead of sitting in my office at work i get out and walk around helping other departments. Food wise i calorie count, i stick to 1400 calories a day and its worked wonders for me. In the new year i am getting a cross trainer to kick up my exercise further.
Everyone is different so you will need to find what works for you, ive read some wonderful success stories on here, everyone does things differently. I started by working out my goal weight and breaking it down into smaller goals, then i decided what "diet" i wanted to try and researched healthier options for my fave meals and snacks.
Good luck with your journey, hope you find what works for you, keep us updated on here of your successes and any questions im more than happy to help if i can, as are so many wonderful people on here
Thank you so much - I find sharing helps and motivates me -your story is great and I will be following in your footsteps
we,ll have to keep an eye on each other then lol
I'm new too- really looking forward to start seeing the results. Sometimes feel a bit daunted by the large amount of weight that I need to shift to be of a healthy weight... but hoping being on this support group will help. Anyway, good luck and I look forward to hearing your progress!
Great to hear from you - it will be great to support each other - I need to lose (28lbs) - what about you? I just have a very low amount of will power - cannot waste food and if offered a chocolate etc. how can I say no!! need to though!
anyway wishing you lots of luck - let me know how you are getting on
i'd like to lose 28lbs, as this will put me in the healthy weight range, but i'm going to wait and see if that goal changes, as for me it's more about how i look and feel as opposed to the number on the scales... without sounding too vain! I've found that eating from smaller plates has helped me with the food wastage issue- i was brought up to finish what was on your dinner plate and so this makes me feel less guilty.
Good luck, and don't beat yourself up too much if you have a treat, i've found it easier to lose my previous weight by occasionally letting myself have a bit of treat!
xx
Hi
Interesting - my childhood was the same but also where we had a treats each week and we ate the whole lot in two days - there were no boundaries, now if I do not get a treat feel that I have missed out - a lot of work to do on my mind set!! a balance between having it all and yes like you say still having a treat
will power whats that i need to loose around 98 lbs yes 98
I have a total of 126lbs to lose, im 23 lbs down so far so definitely possible
Small chunks - best way to eat an elephant!! small bites
well done keep it up
Hey Abbey, I have just joined... already setting myself goals for 2015. I've decided to sign up for a charity run, I've given myself some time and will be looking for all the advice and support on here like you! x
good luck with the run and the weight loss rachel
I’m new as well, though 2nd time round. In Sept, I printed the 12 week NHS plan and followed it for the 12 weeks, lost 5kgs. Then xmas happened, I was less careful, one could say!! Anyway, by last weekI’d gone back into bad habits and my weight had gone back up so? This is a new beginning! There seems to be a lot of help available here, I’d not joined the forum last time. Good luck!
