Last Monday I weighed 13 stone 2.6 pounds, and today I weigh exactly the same - so I feel glad to have maintained my weight and not gained any. I had a couple of Christmas Do's during the week, and managed to enjoy them without going 'over the top' on my food consumption.
I continued with my walking exercise, but didn't manage to get to the gym. Therefore I'm going to try to get to the gym at least once this week, and I am also thinking of looking for some kind of exercise on the internet to try. I haven't used my kettlebell for a while either, so I hope to do a couple of sessions of kettlebell exercises.
Please join me for this Monday weigh-in, and share your own experiences. I hope you've had a good week, and let's hope we're all getting closer to our goals. My goal is to maintain over the Christmas period, and then hopefully get down to 12 stone 7 pounds in the New Year - therefore I've got 9.6 pounds to lose.
Wishing everyone a great week ahead.

Hi Lowcal you seem to be doing really well. Amazingly I have lost another 0.2kg this week. I am now home but got a stinking cold. Yesterday we were invited out for an impromptu lunch by a log fire. Fortunately I was able to keep in my calories.
I am finding maintaining the diet a little easier with 1600kcal a day and the weight has come off as predicted at 0.3kg a week on average. I get frustrated because it is a slower weight loss but it's better than struggling with less calories. Also I do look much better having lost 2 stone so slower is ok. It's just a different mind set to cramp hold of.
Like you I am now going to try and maintain over the Christmas period. It will be hard because this week friends are taking us out for a meal, we celebrate our 30 th wedding anniversary and have a family feast at the church after the carol service and the church really do put on a feast!
I would love to get out of the 80kg and into the 70,s. Just 0.5kg to lose to get there. I still over all have another 12.7 kg to lose.
Congratulations on losing 0.2 kg this week - that's really great. Sorry to hear you've got a cold - hope it will go really soon, especially so you can enjoy your 30th Wedding Anniversary celebrations - Congratulations also on that special occasion.
It's great that you've lost 2 stone, and you're looking and feeling so much better. You're getting closer to being in the 70's.
Thanks for your encouraging words to me - I do appreciate them, and hopefully we'll both manage to maintain our weight over Christmas. Good luck with the coming week, and enjoy your Wedding Anniversary celebrations!
Morning Lowcal if only I was as restrained as you! 3 Xmas dos last week and have put on a pound for each of them! 10st9lbs this morning however that was after breakfast! Hoping to be 10st 8lbs but am off to Spain tomorrow for 5 days. I am however satisfied that I can gain weight, this seems strange but in the last few weeks people keep telling me how thin I look- But I don't really think thin just different, and will stick to being a 8-10 I hope we can give it one post Xmas push have a good week folks
Sounds like you've enjoyed those 3 Christmas meals - I'm sure the pound you've gained for each will soon go away again. I hope you have a fantastic 5 days in Spain, and that you have a safe journey there tomorrow.
You are obviously looking slim, as you have received lots of comments. I'm sure you're looking good!
Enjoy Spain, and have a great week!

Hi Lowcal. Well done for managing Christmas Do's in a sensible way.
I use Fitness Blender (fitnessblender.com/) for working out at home. You can choose workouts based on time, equipment, particular body areas and so on. I like the style of it as it doesn't have annoying music!
I have had a great week, after a really disappointing month my good work finally caught up with me Last week I weighed 14st 8lbs and this week I weigh 14st 5lbs. I've had 2 dos this week, the first one I overate and overdrank to the point where I didn't add all of my calories on MFP and I was still 1000+ over. But, I think that was the inspiration to get through week 3 of C25K so it's not all bad. This morning I started week 4, I can now say that I can jog for 5 minutes, this time last year I wouldn't even jog across the road. My plan for this week is to continue with C25K and loose at least 1lb to get to the 4st lost mark.
I hope you get to the gym and maintaining at this time of year is good work, there's so much temptation around and for all we've learnt a lot about healthy eating, at the end of the day we're only human and weightloss isn't about being miserable. For a couple of weeks of the year missed gym, treats and meals out aren't a bad thing.
Thanks for your very sensible words - much appreciated!
Congratulations to you for losing 3 pounds this week - that is really great. Sounds like you enjoyed your Christmas Do's as well, which is really good. You're obviously making great progress with the C25K - great that you can jog now. Hope you're enjoying it.
Hi Lowcal, well done on maintaining even with meals out I didn't weigh in last week and then broke my mobile (where I log my weekly weigh in) so this week I weigh 16st 7lbs but can't remember where this is in relation to other weeks! I'm hoping my hubby will be able to tap into it somehow as I've been really diligent about it so I have something to look back at - there's a lot to be said for pen and paper I'm reasonably happy with my weigh in today, I almost didn't bother as I've had a hideous week of comfort eating and drinking plus 2 do's so I half expected to be back in the 17's!!
Sounds like you've had quite a few Christmas Do's this week, and so well done for sticking in the 16's, and being nowhere near the 17s. I hope your hubby is able to fix your mobile so you can check your weight loss for this week. I wonder if you mentioned your weight in last week's weigh-in, maybe you can compare it that way?
I keep a log of my weight on the computer in a file, but I also keep a pen and paper record too - so you're right, it's good to have a back-up available. I also use Myfitnesspal, so I have yet another place to log my weights. I probably sound a bit obsessive with all those 'records'...
Thanks for your encouragement, and let's hope that next week is a good week for us all.
Well done on staying the same - no mean feat at this time of year! I have gone a bit awry this week and managed to gain 2.5lbs so am back up to 12st 0lb ggrrrr - so cross with myself! I know exactly where I've gone wrong and have let myself relax a little too much - mince pies, sweets, biscuits, the odd glass of wine - before you know it you're a couple of pounds heavier!
This week I hope to get back into the 11's by keeping up my exercise and trying to limit all the extra bits and pieces that are finding their way into my mouth!!
Good luck with the kettlebells - they're tough! Have a good week.
Those extra tempting treats that abound at this time of year certainly do add up calorie-wise, and I'm sorry to hear you've gained this week, but at least you know exactly why, and I am sure you can get back on track again this week, and be back in the 11's before you know it!
Yes, I'm looking forward to using my kettlebell - I only have the one, but it is 8kg and feels quite hefty.
Hope you have a good week ahead, and good luck with your goals.
Having to sign in at Starbucks to get any internet link, so enjoying a skinny cappuccino just now. Well done Lowcal, keep it up. As for myself, I seem to be "ACE" at maintenance as remain the same as last week disappointingly, BUT I guess it's not a gain so perhaps I should be grateful. I sincerely hope that when we get our new house in the new year then I can start back where I left off in October when I was losing every week. Still the same blooming 5lbs to go for the five stone weight loss!
Good luck everyone and keep watching those calories!
Great that you found an internet link, and hope you enjoyed your skinny Cappuccino. Thanks also for your encouraging words.
I think it is great that you've managed to maintain your weight - because you have been through some challenging things lately and that should not be underestimated.
Hopefully in the New Year you'll be settling into a new home and you'll be able to focus on losing weight - in the meantime, you're watching your intake, and you're doing well at maintaining - and that's incredible at this time of year with all the extra temptations etc.
Wow, you're getting closer to your 5 stone weight loss, and that is brilliant!
Hi lowcal, well done on maintaining, especially with 2 Christmas dos! Ive managed to lose 3 pounds this week, which I'm really pleased with after putting on a pound last week. It is a bit of a surprise that I have lost this wee though as it has been hectic and included a christmas buffet at work and a meal out (with pudding) on saturday. It seems all the running around I have been doing has made a difference!
I would love to lose another pound this week, as that would take me to 4 stone lost, but have my work christmas do at an indian restaurant this week. At least I am driving so will not be drinking, so can save some calories that way! I also plan to try on my size 12 clothes this week and see how close I am to getting in them. I would love to be able to wear a size12 dress on christmas day! Hope it all goes well for everyone this week.
Wow, it's great to hear you've managed to lose 3 pounds this week - especially as you've had your work buffet and a meal out (with pudding) on Saturday. Your running around must definitely be making a lot of difference!
I think the Christmas Do at the Indian Restaurant will be quite challenging. But I'm sure there are some less calorific dishes you could choose - depends on whether you want to do that or just choose what you fancy on the night. I think that tomato based dishes are much lower in calories than the cream based sauces. I hope you enjoy the evening anyway, whatever you choose.
Wow, you've nearly lost 4 stone in total - that is amazing. Really well done. I hope you'll be able to enjoy wearing that size 12 dress on Christmas day - great goal to work towards!
Hi LC- bit of a rubbish week for me - half way through week - I was very close to 12 stone - but then blew it all with fish and chips, thai curry and yet another meal out - so deservedly plonked two pounds on. I am not despondent - just resigned. Will try to get back to what I was this time last week over the next week.
oh and well done to you for maintaining - have another good week.
Well done for getting close to 12 stone - and commiserations that you gained 2 pounds in the end. I know how easily that can happen, and I do empathise with you! I hope you enjoyed the fish and chips, Thai curry and your meal out though. I'm sure the 2 pounds will come off quickly. Just keep your resolve, and you'll be fine!
Well done on keeping things on track with a maintainence week. I can relate to not getting the chance to exercise as much as you want - I haven't been as active either this week. However, I am pleased to say I have had a 2lb loss this week so am now 12st 5.5lb. I will try for a loss this coming week but with 4 x Christmas celebrations in the diary this week I am thinking more of just maintaining. We'll see....
I am so pleased to hear you've had a 2 pound loss this week - that's really great! You've managed that even though you've not been as active this week, so you must have been really on track with your food intake etc.
Wow - 4 Christmas Do's in one week - that is LOADS! I hope you enjoy them all, and good luck with your goal to maintain.
Hi Lowcal well done on maintaining this week. It seems very hard at this time of year to stay focussed on healthy eating. I like your New Year target as well - sounds very achievable and something to really look forward to. It will be much easier then with all our good intentions for the start of the year and Christmas behind us. I actually lost 1lb this week - although I didnt do too well on exercise I did seem to be starving hungry most of the week - eating the same as the week before when I didn't lose any weight. I am now 12st 5lbs and hope to lose just 1 more lb before I start on my over Christmas maintenance. I checked my BMI on the nhs site - my target is to lose another 1st 2lbs to be just inside the healthy weight range for my height. I was rather dismayed that the site told me I should actually lose another 2st 5lbs to be in the mid range for my height! Felt very deflated for a while - but will stick with my target as a first step. Good luck for the next week everyone - I think we are going to need it! I have a whole weekend of family partying to deal with so not sure I will actually lose anything.
Well done for losing 1 pound this week - that's really good. I find the BMI categories to be quite large in terms of their breadth - maybe see how you feel personally when you get to your first target, and maybe you won't want to lose any more weight - or maybe you'll think that you do, but either way you'll be in the 'healthy range' by that time, which is all good!
Glad you didn't feel deflated for long - because you're doing so well, and you don't deserve to feel deflated! Good luck with your goal this week, and enjoy your weekend with your family - maybe plan beforehand which parts of the partying you'll allow yourself to sample, and which parts you'll avoid/restrict.
Christmas parties, dinners, etc. do make it a challenge. One has to live. However, staying with a healthy calorie count as often as possible really helps. I thought my weight would have crept up a little last week - wine , cheese, crackers, roast beef, etc., etc. However, I still managed to lose 1/2 a lb. just by being careful in those non event meals. Check the calorie count on bags of junk food - very sobering.
Thanks for joining us, and congratuations on your half pound loss this week - that's really great, especially considering you've enjoyed all those Christmassy foods - it does show that a loss can still happen if you are careful with the calories.
I agree that junk food calories can be staggering, and they are best avoided. Here's to making healthy choices, and enjoying Christmas.
Hi Lowcal, Well done with the sensible eating on your Christmas do's! I hope I will eat sensibly today when I go out for lunch with my hubby, as I feel quite peckish now (been up and at work since 5am!
Well, my weigh in this week (Tuesday as I ran out of time Monday) was another good loss! another 3lb lost, so that's 8lb in the 2 weeks since I started on here! I'm not surprised, I've really focussed on healthy eating, not eating anything that wasn't healthy, balancing protein and carbs, and most days, just eating something for lunch, then having a glass of milk shake and an apple or banana for tea. It's a good start, and I'll now start to eat that 2nd meal each day, hoping now to lose 2lb in the next 2 weeks, so a pound a week. I use wii fit to weigh myself, then have a go on the exercises.
Congratulations on your 3 pound loss, and making your total weight loss of 8 pounds so far. I think you're wise to eat a bit more now, because you need to ensure you are eating all the nutrients your body needs, and healthy weight loss is usually not more than 2 pounds per week - so you're being really sensible and that's great.
I hope you're enjoying your lunch out with your hubby today, and that you make some sensible choices - sounds like you're understandably hungry after working since 5am this morning! I would find it very difficult not to have any breakfast - I always have something - usually some porridge I find that really filling and satisfying.
Thanks for your encouragement - and I'm so glad you're doing so well with your weight loss goals.
