I did Slimming World and thought it was great. I lost around 3 stone in 1 year, the only reason I left was because I was moving away to an area where they didn't have any classes. I often did , I think it was called Mix to Max, where you can have say a green meal for lunch and a red meal for dinner, this let me have pasta or rice for lunch, and meat/fish with veggies or salad for dinner, which worked well for me.
My best advice would be to really get the most out of the meetings and get to know people, then you can really chat and support each other.
Good luck, if you have any questions then just ask....
No, remember you are looking for a new way of eating for life, if it works go for it! Good luck I like to weigh in and do it here every Monday , do join us!
I am also doing Slimming World. I am about seven weeks in and have lost 10lbs in total (with a way to go). I stayed the same in one week and gained a little in two - but overall, I am going in the right direction. I find it an easy programme to work with so long as you really listen to your appetite - and don't just go for it. You can eat many things in an unlimited fashion but if you have become used to big portions and don't also remember that at least a third of the plate should be superfree foods (or even up to two thirds) you may find the going a bit slower. I was snacking on lean ham (which is free) but it still has calories in it and they add up - so it makes more sense to snack on superfree stuff instead and to make sure that a decent amount of water or other free hydrator is taken.
There are loads of good recipes which maximise and extend interest in food, taste and cooking. The Slimming World magazine is also worth reading. Log in to the website - or just put 'Slimming World' into Google and read some of the many related threads in a range of blogs.
But, overall, going to the group, like this website, is a support and a reminder to keep on with the journey. Now, all I have to do is get myself to the gym.
Good luck.
