Last Monday I weighed 13 stone 4.6 pounds, and today I weigh 13 stone 5.6 pounds, so I've gained 1 pound this week. I am on my period this week, and also it's Easter weekend. My plan to restrict my Easter treats went quite well, but I did end up eating more than I planned - due to being given a couple of unexpected Easter gifts. My will-power was not as strong as I would have liked…! But I am thankful that I've only gained 1 pound, and I am going to work hard next week to get that off again, and hopefully a bit more…
So my plan is to get back on track this week, and lose some weight.
I hope you're enjoying the Easter break, and I hope you'll join me for this Monday weigh-in, to share your progress. If you're new, and fancy joining us, please do - you'd be very welcome.
Wishing you all a great week ahead.

Hey lowcal, im in a similar situation this week though I've gained 2lbs. I also had my period this week and succumbed to the cravings I fought off last month. It didn't help that I had my 2yr old nephews birthday party on easter sunday- double whammy of treats.
I'm getting the blinders on for this week as I'm off on holiday on Sunday so want to do as much damage control as possible!
Hope you're enjoying the holidays and everyone's had a good week
At least we've enjoyed Easter, and hopefully we can both get our extra weight off again very soon. Good luck with getting back on track, and hope you have a great holiday on Sunday. Something to look forward to.
Having a period coinciding with Easter is not the best chain of events, but at least we know what happened! It's hard to fight off cravings when faced directly with things such as Easter treats.
Hi Lowcal, I think with Easter treats and your period 1lb is a teeny tiny gain and you'll re-lose it in no time! I was attacked by several stray crispie buns mid week but other than that not been tempted by chocolate unfortunately my period is due this week, and that is when it becomes irresistible!
I missed the weigh in last week as my phone was playing up and wouldn't let me type in the box!! Didn't have a loss then and today I weigh a mighty 16st 13&1/2lbs. This is seriously not good yet I'm doing c25k regularly and feel fitter - hubby ran with me the other day and said my pace had really picked up - so am going with it for now and hoping that everything will settle into place..
The weather is glorious in Yorkshire at the moment so it's salad all round for now!!
Sounds like you're making great progress with your c25k - great that your husband has commented on your improved pace - it's good to get feed-back. Salads in sunny Yorkshire sound really good! You'll soon be losing weight again, but good luck with getting through your period this week.
Well done for not being tempted by chocolate - that is great. I'm sure those crispy buns will soon be off your waist-line.
Good luck with this week, and great to see you again today for this Monday weigh-in.
Thanks as always for your encouraging words.
Lowcal
Hi Lowcal - hey, given that it has been the Easter weekend it could have been a lot worse so count it as a success that it's only 1 lb on! I think it's good to show that we can slip a little without it meaning that we have fallen off the wagon completely. If we are truly developing new habits for life then it seems healthier to say that we will have the occasional bit of choc (or whatever) than to try to deny ourselves it forever - which we know is counter-productive.
Anyhoo, this is my first week weigh-in and I am delighted as I have lost 6 lbs woohoo! I know that this will slow down after the first week or so but it's a good kick-start to the weight loss. Not only that but I feel so-o-o much healthier already - I have more energy and don't look as pasty. I haven't felt hungry at all and have been eating loads; breakfast is porridge and blueberries, lunch is something like tuna and salad and dinner is a lot of green veg with fish or quorn (I'm a fish-eating veggie). I haven't had any choc or cakes etc but I haven't wanted them. I haven't had any alcohol either as I prefer my cals in food form! I have had a couple of good walks over the past week and plan to go for a walk today too and to have a short session on the exercise bike. Thanks to everyone for your support during my first week - you've been great
Yes, you're right, it could have been a lot worse…! I wouldn't want to deny myself chocolate treats - like you say, it would be counter-productive. I do love chocolate - it's one of my favourite things.
Wow, you've lost 6 pounds in your first week - that is amazing! Really well done!!! That must feel good!!! Great to hear you're feeling a lot healthier already. Having more energy is a great thing and having more colour too sounds good.
I also enjoy porridge with blueberries, and I also add some nuts and seeds as well. Find it really tasty and filling. Your lunch and dinners sound really healthy too - and good to hear you're enjoying some walking. That's great exercise. Enjoy your walk today and your exercise bike session too.
Glad you had some easter treats. i have also eaten more indulgent meals over the long weekend, resulting in a 1lb gain just like you. so back to 13 st 7lb. so i will also aim to get back on track this week. hope you have a good one sidcup 1 x
Hey lowcal, hope you had a good easter. I lost 1lb this werk which im happy with considering i had a big loss last week and a little bit of indulgence of chocolate. All the best for the week ahead
Congratulations to you for losing 1 pound this week - especially over Easter!!! You've done really well. Great to hear you also enjoyed a little bit of indulgence of chocolate too - and hope you have a great week ahead.
I enjoyed Easter thanks. Still going to have a couple of treats today, but from tomorrow I will be back on the wagon and trying to get some weight off.
Hi lowcal, glad you are having a good easter, and a gain of one pound is not much. I've also put on a pound this week, putting me two pounds above my target weight again. I think some of this is down to the fact that I am due on soon, but also I made and decorated our easter cake this week so nibbled bits of icing and cake which were not weighed and recorded! Need to be stricter this week and back into good habits. Luckily family have been really good and I did not get much chocolate this easter, but was given books and flowers instead!
Thank you. Your encouraging words are much appreciated.
Glad that your family supported you and didn't buy you too much chocolate this Easter. Having some books and flowers instead sounds really good - and both of those will last much longer than chocolate, so even better!
It must have been tempting to be making and decorating your Easter cake - I bet it looked really good. At least you've only gained 1 pound. I'm sure you'll soon get those 2 pounds over your target weight off again soon.
Here's to good habits for us all this week, going forward.
Hope you are enjoying the easter break, 1lb gain isn't bad under circumstances, you can't give up everything all the time. Iife's for liveing I'm sure you will be back to it this week.
I have stayed the same this week, not too dissapointed as went out for Sunday lunch yesterday with wine and of course tucked into some easter egg when we got back plus another glass of wine sitting outside in the sun.
I have a big birthday this week (65) ouch, so will be out for a meal on thursday but will try hard to have a good week and show a loss next week.
Hope this sunny weather keeps up, great for lots of walks. Good Luck everyone for next week.
Well done for staying the same this week and maintaining your weight. Good to hear you enjoyed a nice Sunday lunch with wine and some Easter eggs. I'm enjoying the Easter break too - lovely sunshine makes all the difference!
Wishing you a Very Happy Birthday for later this week, and enjoy your meal out on Thursday.
Yes, this weather is great for lots of walks - thanks for your encouraging words and enjoy the remainder of Easter and your Birthday too.
Good morning everyone and happy Easter. Dear Lowcal, you probably haven't gained weight at all, it's just your period. Next week will definitely be a good weigh in so keep up the great work.
I have lost 5lbs this week and now only 4lbs off my lowest weight ever!!! That's my new goal to get below 13st 8lbs. Would like to think I could do it by next week but think two weeks should be more realistic. In full swing and loving that feeling that I will be able to go shopping for summer clothes yet another size down from a size 24!!!!!
Happy Easter! Thanks for the considerate thought that maybe I've not actually gained weight, and it's just my period - I really hope that's true. I'll find out later in the week, and at next Monday's weigh-in. Thank you.
Congratulations to you for losing 5 pounds this week - and being only 4 pounds off your lowest weight ever - that is fantastic!!!! You've set a good target to allow yourself two weeks to get to your new goal - good luck!
You'll have great fun shopping for your new sized clothes - I expect Desigual will be on your list.
Very possibly although I have quite a Desigual wardrobe of clothes that I can just fit into now so comfortable in them by the summer. Bought them all back from Portugal to fit into so not disappointed! X
That's a relief that you can still use those clothes - you can look forward to wearing them and being really comfortable in them by the Summer. Lots of enjoy! xx
Morning Lowcal, glad you had a good Easter - sorry about your gain, but 1lb over Easter and with your period is very respectable!!
Last week I weighed 11st10lb, today I weigh 11st9lb ... Somehow I have managed to lose a lb 🎉🎉 I
My family arrived on Wednesday, but I had decided to control as many meals as possible, try to make healthy choices and not get carried away! This is the very first time I have managed a loss over a holiday ... Now let's see how week 7 goes with all this chocolate so easily available!
Yes, it's a 'respectable' gain in the circumstances!!! Thanks for that positive reframe.
Congratulations to you for losing a pound this week - that's really great. You're making great progress. Especially having your family over and it being Easter as well. Well done for making healthy choices and not getting carried away.
Hi Lowcal. Weighed in at 11 13.6 so a loss of 0.2 quite pleased with that as have indulged a bit over Easter. Like you time to refocus this week and get back properly on plan. So good luck everyone! off for a swim now😊
I am in the unusual position of having lost- which is pretty remarkable given that it is easter - lots of visitors and my birthday. This is due to no cleverness on my part - i was horribly ill last week with a throat and chest infection - so 'nil by mouth' for me. I had lost 5 lbs - but after weekend it now stands at 2.5. I guess i am ok with that - but would not want to to be that unwell again!!
So for this week i am aiming for good - I can't taste anything so that is limiting my eating and drinking. I would like to consider running but I am left with post viral blues - so not going to push myself
And today is glorious - so I am going to enjoy the sunshine and think happy thoughts
Wow, that's so great to hear you've lost weight over Easter. Happy Birthday!!!! I hope you enjoyed it, and it's great that you've had lots of visitors and celebrations.
I'm glad you're feeling a bit better after your throat and chest infection - that must have been horrible. Let's hope you're never that unwell again, it can really take its toll. I hope your taste buds get back to normal soon so you can taste things again.
I think you're wise to recuperate a bit longer before getting back to your running - post viral blues mean you need some extra care and comfort - so enjoy the sunshine and your happy thoughts.
Hi there. This is my first time for posting. I have weighed myself this morning and am the heaviest I have been for a while. This time I am determined to lose some weight and get some positive attitude back. I hope by writing this it will help. Thank you for the inspiration xx
A very warm welcome to you, and thanks for joining us for this Monday weigh-in. You've taken that important first step and got your initial weight. Hopefully that's the heaviest you'll be from now on, and you can look forward to weighing less as time goes on. Have you seen the NHS weight loss pages? There's a good 12 week structured plan there - and lots of really good advice and information. Also a lovely recipe for Banana Bran Fruit cake - I can definitely recommend it.
I hope you have a great first week, and hope to see you at next Monday's weigh-in, if you want to join us. I post between 7am and 7.15am on Monday mornings, and there are quite a few people who come here regularly for the weigh-in - it's a supportive and lovely group of people.
Hi Sarahgordon71. You have done the right thing in joining this group. I only joined last week and it has been great. I had my first weigh-in and have lost 6lbs in the first week and I feel better already. I have at least 6 stone to lose so I have a long way to go. Don't let the fact that you're at your heaviest depress you - just make it your motivation to make some changes and to be good to yourself with healthy food and activity. I'm happy to help you if I can
Hi and welcome to the group. We are so inspirational here that I have lost four and a half stone with everyone's support. Was a size 24 and now just fitting into a size 16. Just keep following & posting and setting yourself small achievable goals. Good luck.
No scales as im away so I live in blissful ignorance! Just wanted to say happy Easter everyone. Will fess up on Wednesday! Have managed to see friends & family and delight in our friends daughter so very nearly winning "The Voice". If you saw it - wasn't Lucy amazing? Happy days! What's a lb or 2?
Great to see you, and thanks for joining us despite being away and having no scales. Blissful ignorance of your weight must feel quite good! Hope you're having a lovely time.
Great that you're catching up with friends and family, and I am disappointed that I don't watch 'The Voice' - but I will definitely ask my friends about Lucy - as I have quite a few friends who do enjoy that show. Must have been exciting for you to be cheering on your friend's daughter. Hopefully she'll do very well for having been on that show and doing so well.
You're right, what's a pound or two - especially at Easter. Nothing to complain about, and we can move forward from it.
Wishing you a great week. Enjoy the remainder of your break.
Good Morning everyone and Happy Easter. I've just completed my first week of dieting and pleased to say I've lost 4lbs. I'm not getting carried away as I know it's only the first week and it may well get more difficult to lose the pounds as the weeks roll on. I want to lose 2 1/2 stone and I'm quite prepared for the long haul as I believe that is a better way to lose weight. Ultimately I want to have a different attitude towards food and eating, I don't just want to lose weight. I've tried a number of different diets over the years from Slimming World and Weight Watchers to Cambridge and Lighterlife. This time I'm determined to take control and win the battle; this blog has been a great help during the past week so to everyone out there who contributes...Thank You.
Happy Easter to you! Also, Congratulations on your 4 pound loss in your first week - that's really great!!! Really well done.
I think you're very sensible to consider things from a fresh attitude and perspective - hopefully you'll win the battle this time, and be working towards a healthier future. Like you say, it's not just about losing weight.
Really glad you're joining us for this weigh-in, and look forward to hopefully seeing you in the weeks to come - hopefully we'll all be getting fitter, healthier and lighter as time goes on!
Good morning everyone, just 1lb off this week which I am quite pleased at to say I have had 2 parties to go to this weekend, both with buffet foods, not good for a diet, but at least it's a pound off and not on, which I put down to all the dancing I have done at the parties. I am hoping for a couple of pounds off this coming week. i,m so glad I don,t have monthlies to bother about anymore. Good luck everyone for the coming week.
Your post is there! I know you thought it had disappeared, but I can see it. Great to see you! Sounds like you've had a busy social week with all those parties, and great that you enjoyed lots of dancing - sounds like fun. Congratulations for losing 1 pound this week, despite the fact the parties had buffet foods - that can be such a challenging thing to face. Sounds like you made some good choices, and I'm sure the dancing would have helped too.
Happy easter to you too! Shame about the lb gain, but you defo have the right attitude! I have been away so not weighed myself yet, just wanted to say hi and let you know I'm still here and still sticking with it. I have just got home but want to give myself the best possible chance by waiting till the morning to weigh in haha! So all will be confessed tomorrow! I did so well easter Sunday but today have fallen to pieces! Let's just say there was a glass of my fave pink fizzy wine and half an easter egg involved 😞 I managed to stay within my calories but could kick myself for the impulsive behaviour! Though I guess before I would have quite easily polished of the whole egg and the bottle of the other!! Oh well, it's done now, I'll post when I weigh myself tomo. 🌼
Glad to hear you're still here and sticking with it. That's great! I hope you had a nice time away, and I know you're planning to weigh-in on Tuesday morning (today).
I don't think that pink fizzy wine and half an Easter egg is too much of a crime! Hopefully it won't be too bad on the scales - especially as you did well on Easter Sunday. It could have been so much worse!
Look forward to hearing how you get on - good luck!
I did have a lovely weekend catching up with lots of family!
You're very right, it could have been worse, I was just really cross with myself as I've been so self-controlled the entire 2weeks so far and it was just like the old me, I didn't think about it, just ate! Im retrospect I should have just weighed myself last night rather than spend a sleepless night worrying that I somehow ruined everything!
However, when I weighed this morning, I have lost a further 4lb this week, bringing my grand total to 9lb, making me 13st7! So happy, hit my first half stone mark!
My next goal is to reach a stone loss by the end of week 4!
Week 3 is well underway and I'm going shopping later to stock up on all my yummy veggies for the week! Planning is the only way to stop my impulses lol!
Hope you have a good week! And good luck with shedding the easter 1lb! You can do it 😆🌸
You deserved a good night's sleep last night - sorry to hear it was a bit sleepless - great to hear how well you've done - Congratulations on losing 4 pounds this week, that's soooooo great!!! You've lost half a stone already, that's brilliant!
Enjoy your shopping later for all those healthy veggies.
I do hope to have a good week, but already I can tell it is a challenging one - there are a few events to contend with this week and I'm enjoying some more calorific treats - so I am not sure I'm going to be losing that pound yet - but I'm keeping up with my exercise and making healthy choices most of the time, so hopefully it won't be too bad…!
Ah life just gets in the way sometimes doesn't it! It's one thing Eating healthily at home but you need a social life too! Otherwise we'd all be hermits!
As long as you keep up the exercise and healthy eating the rest of the time I'm sure you'll be fine! I'm rooting for you! 🌺
Amazingly, I lost 3/4 lb this week! I went out for dinner Friday night, had a buffet with the in-laws on Saturday and then loads of drink and roast lamb on Sunday so losing anything is a bonus. I'm back on track now though and have planned healthy meals all week.
It is so easy to go off the rails when there is a special occasion, and I definitely have very little will power (I said no to chocolate yesterday and even the cat looked shocked!), but what's the point of eating healthily and getting more exercise if you can't have a treat once in a while?! I refuse to live in a diet dictatorship! haha
Congratulations on losing 3/4 lb this week - that's really great! Sounds like you've had an enjoyable Easter with some nice meals with family. Great that you're back on track again and have pre-planned some healthy meals for the week. Really good!
I agree with you that any healthy eating plan should include foods that you consider a treat now and again - nobody would want to live in a diet dictatorship.
Morning Lowcal! 1 lb is nothing, especially if you are on your PMS days, so I have no doubt you'll lose it this week. I have gained 2.2 lbs but I had a lovely relaxing week of not-counting-calories holidays which I truly needed. Back on track from today!
Morning to you! Thanks for your encouraging words - much appreciated.
Glad to hear you've had a relaxing week of holidays - and you've hardly gained very much - you'll soon get that 2.2 pounds off again now you're back on track.
Hi Lowcal I would live with a tiny weight gain forced myself on the scales and I am nearly but not quite ELEVEN STONE THREE POUNDS which for me is post holiday weight, an going to find it difficult to lose this week uncles funeral, he died suddenly a couple of weeks ago, and I have voulenteered to do the committal friday so aiming to stay under 11 3lbs have a good week everyone x
Great to see you again - hope you had a great time on your holidays. Sorry to hear about your Uncle's unexpected death, and hope the funeral goes ok this week - very sad. Good luck with doing the Committal on Friday.
You'll soon get rid of the extra weight once you can get back into your normal routine - just look after yourself.
Hi Prin. So sorry to hear about your uncle. Thinking of you loads and wishing you luck for tomorrow. XXX
I've had a smiley time recently as have been estranged from my daughter for 11 years (due to her husband!) She has now left him and last weekend went to see her and my four grandchildren.....2 of whom I haven't met before. Feel so excited that I have my daughter back in my life.
I just read your positive news about re-connecting with your daughter and Grandchildren - that must have been an amazing weekend. Really pleased for you.
I am late posting this week as had some time off work and have been spending it with family! I did manage to weigh on Monday but didn't have time to get online to tell you all!
I am pleased to announce a 1lb gain this week. This brings me back up to 12st 7lbs. Not bad considering lent finished on Thursday and I did go on a bit of a chocolate rampage... :/
I had intended to do more exercise seen as I was off work but I could not manage! I went to Go Ape on Saturday with my brother and sister. Not sure if you have one of those around by you but its like an assault course in the trees! A few zip wires, but cargo nets, ladders and various other things to climb! It was about 3 hours overall! I didn't feel like I was working much at the start but it got tougher towards the end! The next day I was aching everywhere! Places I didn't know I could ache! I was like this most of the weekend so was not able to do any other exercise! I will tonight though, feeling better. I'm thinking this is what held off a larger weight gain!
Still have that 7lb loss before July but I am just happy that I am currently the lightest I have been in about 5 years! I am feeling good!
I'm glad to see a few losses on here especially over easter! Well done guys! And don't fret too much about your 1lb gain Lowcal! It will be off in no time! you can do it!
It's great that you're currently the lightest you've been for about 5 years - many Congratulations for that, and it's great that you're feeling good! Your Go Ape session sounds very active indeed - hope your muscles recover soon!
Thanks for your encouraging words - I'm sure we'll both get that extra pound gained off very soon - and it's a respectable amount to gain after Easter in any case, so I'm not too concerned about my own gain.
Well done for lasting out over Lent - and glad you enjoyed some chocolate afterwards.
