I cant jog. It is official! I really struggled today. I had to change the programme to walk 60, brisk walk 90. I thought I was going to collapse. My body just wont jog. What shall I do?

Thank you, I will not give up, I will keep at the brisk walk and walk , perhaps a few jog style bits here and there. I am so overweight and unfit. I wish I had a someone to buddy up with , I feel so self conscious.

Ok, my heart rate at resting is 80 per min. I walked my dog normal walking at 10 mins prior to starting the warm up for the programme.

I have started a healthy eating plan and have been on that for just 1 week. So far doing well on it.

I am just so overweight! I am 17.8lbs and am 5ft 5ins

I cant jog either...so I just walk at a good steady pace...

in reply tobehappynow

I walk at a steady pace as well, not brisk but a bit more than leisurely. If I try walking fast I tend to fall over, which is not good at my age (or any age).

Oh right, that sounds like a good plan. I am meeting a pal tomorrow morning who is going to show me how to speed walk etc correctly. I am taking park in the race for life in July, its a good job I started now.

I have been walking regularly for about three months now and have found that my fitness has increased to the extent that I can't seem walk fast enough any more and find myself tipping into a run, without meaning to. I have harnessed this and do 1 minute jogs interspersed with my walking. I'm hoping that this will continue and that my jogging times will become longer!
