Day 2 of week 1.

So last week I downloaded the 12 week challenge to read through before Monday (day 1 of diet).

I had also been running/ doing exercise all of last week and actually without trying I lost 4lbs before day one of the diet! Madness! This puts me at a starting weight of 82kgs approx.. 12stone 10lbs.

I’m not going to stop having everything I like, because I know it will just cause me to relapse. So if I can incorporate a few sweet things in during the week while keeping calories under 1600 per day, I think it might just work. Of course as I lose weight I’ll have to decrease the amount of calories I intake but currently according to my BMI, 1600 just where I need to start.

I haven’t done any exercise since the weekend but I’m going horse riding tonight and tomorrow I’ll incorporate a run into my morning.

Here is a very quick peak at my attempt of calorie counting. I enjoy a lot of slimming world meals, so my main meals of the day usually are from my slimming world recipe book. Any tips are welcome!

Day 1 - Breakfast was 2x shredded wheat biscuits with semi skimmed milk and 2 teaspoons of sweetener.

Lunch - Slimming world chicken and rice.

Snack – 1 small pain shortbread biscuit and a coffee.

Dinner – Slimming world chicken tikka with veg and rice.

Desert – 1 half of bounty bar with a cup of tea.

Total Calories: 1610

Day 2- Breakfast was 2x shredded wheat biscuits with semi skimmed milk and 2 teaspoons of sweetener.

Lunch- Tuna sandwich with 30g of cheddar

Snack- 99cal yoghurt

Dinner- veggie omelette

Desert – Another half of bounty bar

Total Calories: 1524

I like your food choices, well done (makes me want to eat a bounty bar now though...)! ☀️

Looks like some tasty things on your menus!

I would just ask why it is you use sweetener on your cereal? I know a lot of people around here put fruit on for sweetness. Which has the added benefit of being one of your 5 a day as well! :)

But that's just me. Rather than putting sweetener instead of sugar in my tea I just stopped having the sugar. But then, I normally drink fruit/herbal teas which are fine without. If I am by any chance stuck with the regular black stuff I have to have sugar in it to combat the bitterness.

Good luck! :)

Hi VickyDLM ,

Thank you for the tip, I actually didn't really think of it like that!

I guess I just went with sweetener as I have breakfast at work and rather than keeping fruit for the week I tend to just use that. But actually, there's really no reason I can't bring in a banana each day or strawberries.

I'll start adding those into my diet. I do tend to always have lots of veg and forget about the fruit!

No worries, we're all here to support each other! I've definitely stolen the idea from others around the forum. :)

Not being able to eat at home can definitely take a bit more planning and creative thinking. Which I suppose is the reason we're all here.

This time of the year there's so much nice fruit around (berries, cherries, watermelon.... the list goes on!) that I find it hard not to eat too much! :D

Good luck on your way!

Hi, all sounds lovely and it's great you are cooking things from scratch, but you do seem a bit lacking in your 5 a day, vegetables really fill you up and keep you fuller longer so are really good. Good luck!

Yes Caz you're right I do need to have more of my 5 a day. Although, I always have veg with dinner and lots of it as it has so many benefits. But definitely, need to add more.

So fruit with breakfast is a win/win situation then? 😊 Also pile up the veggies as they fill you up, soups too are great! 😊 But a great looking menu, well done! The first few days are always the trickiest 😊
