How is everyone doing? There is a stretch Quest starting this week on the Stregnth and Flex forum if anyone In interested in joining

healthunlocked.com/strength...

Here we are at week 8 already, how is it going for everyone. Please join in as we share our walking adventures and accomplishments and encourage each other to get our steps in or increase our distances or speed.

On the C25k forum I started a 6 wk quest three years ago and between The admins we keep it going to help keep everyone motivated but working towards their own personal goals.

So I would like to do a similar thing on here for walking. This is going to be 12 weeks plan in total as for some of us we need a bit more time to get back on our feet but it will be very inclusive and doesn't matter what you walking goals are, please feel free to join.

Here are a set of example as to what your goals could be.

1) I want to be able to go for little walks a couple of times a week, not bothered with speed or distance just getting out the door.

2) I want to be able to do 3x 5km walks a week

3) I'm training for a ......... km event.

4) I want go out for .... walks a week to help me destress.

There are so many different combinations and there will be non that are not good goals.

The aim in the 12 weeks plan is to build you up to a walking fitness level that suits yourself and your personal circumstances. The most important thing is to make your goals manageable and not to over extend yourself. It is always better to get to goal and go further than not reach a goal as that demoralises you.

Please add your name below if you would like to take part as we support each other to reach our goals.

My walking is going well his week. I am keeping my distance up but my speed has gone down. This is because MrRfc is feeling fitter and has started coming on the longer walks. I really love having the opportunity to go walking together as when he was ill this is the one thing I missed so much so a dip in speed is well worth it fo the company.

Welcome onboard. That's a great goal, build up slow and steady, looking forward to hearing about your journey.

I averaged 9,000 steps a day last week. I was aiming for 9,500 but I think one lazy day scuppered me! If I just potter around at home I only manage 4,000 steps, so I have be quite intentional about adding in walks. I am doing much better this week, the good weather makes such a difference!

It is all going the right direction, well done. 4000 steps round the home is good it means your moving a lot of the time. 😀

I'm mixing walking and running at the moment, and enjoying both. More walking than running actually, I go for a walk several times a week, even my runs are Galloway runs. My heel is feeling very much better, but it's still not quite there. I'm pleasantly surprised at how much easier I find the hills around here now, I used to walk a lot before I discovered C25K, but always struggled with the inclines. These days they are pretty easy - thank you Laura!

I think that is why I only run twice a week when I run because I love my walks and my swim and there is just now enough days in the week.😀 Glad your finding your feet and keeping going.

Thank you RFC, the pool here will be open in a few weeks, although I can no longer do front crawl due to my inner ear problems, I'm intending to go and do some breast stroke.

Welcome onboard, I have added your name in. What sort of goals are you going for? Try to keep them acievebale for you as reaching a goal is one of the most motivating things in itself.

I want to start off by walking for half an hour a day to start with, and introducing some other exercise when I'm ready.
