Hello, I’m new here and hoping for some advice. I’ve been properly ttc since September 2022 and been off birth control since Jan 22 as I wanted to get my body back to normal (not happened :()Recently been diagnosed with PCOs. I have high levels of AMH and both ovaries have follicles. I’ve had no period since March 22 (had a withdrawal bleed a few weeks after stopping BC).

I’ve been under the fertility clinic since Feb 23 and I’m currently on the waiting list for clomid but not getting anywhere due to long wait times with our NHS. I’ve had hycosy in June 23 and both tubes are patent. I’ve since been prescribed Metformin. I’m on my third week of 1000mg a day and feel so sick. I had awful diarrhoea but now have horrific constipation.

I’m hoping anyone can share some good news stories on Metformin and TTC who are in a similar position. I just feel so alone right now and praying for a miracle. I’m 30 years old and this would be our first baby.

Thank you in advance x

It’s been suggested to me, but I’m not currently taking it. I have read that you can request a slow release version of metformin, and it is supposed to help with side effects.

Good luck ❤️

It was recommended it to me but I chose not to take it and tried myo inositol instead. I understand it can help with ovulation by reducing insulin resistance. If you haven't already, start off on a low dose and increase it gradually, and take with food, to avoid side effects. The slow release version is supposed to be better tolerated.

I took Metformin for 4 years and the side effects never wore off and even switched to slow release. I was told there are other similar options if the GP could prescribe they may! I’ve just started again taking Inositol. I’m 28 and have been suffering for years with so many problems pcos throws at us. I have heard Metformin is one of the best off brand medicines for pcos and insulin resistance. Don’t be afraid to speak to a health care professional as the side effects are very unpleasant! Good luck x
