Vaginal bleeding or Period?

Hi everyone, so last night I started bleeding (extremely heavy) and I thought nothing about it, if anything I got excited thinking I was having my first period in 3 years. When I woke up this morning, my pj bottoms were absolutely drenched in blood, despise having 2 pads on. I don’t know what to do - do I contact my GP or not? I don’t know if it’s a period or if it’s off the progesterone only pill. I’m getting cramps but that’s just normal for me as I’ve been getting them for about 2-3 month now.

Hi AmyTS if in doubt always speak to your GP about it. Are you on the progesterone pill or when did you come off it? You do not get periods with the progesterone only pill, I was on it for over 6 years and didn't have a vaginal bleed the whole time I was on it and when I came off it it took 15 months to get my first period again and it was back to previous, irregular every 2 to 4 months and not that heavy. Also cramps are not normal even if you do get them a lot so speak to your gp about those too. You can always call 111 if worried over weekend. Take care

Hi, I rang my GP and she said because I’m under gynaecology she can’t really do anything. She said the results of my scan shows that the lining of mg womb is thicker than what it should be and that causes erratic bleeding. I’m still on the progesterone pill (only been on it for 2 weeks)

I work for 111 and 999 and they can’t really do much especially when I’m under gynaecology too x

oh, I would have thought GP or 111 could at least advise you whether you should be worried and ask for a gynaecologist appointment or to leave it. I've not been referred to a gynaecologist yet so not sure how it works getting appointments with them. I hope it resolves itself or you get seen x
