Hi ladies so it's my first period after been on norethisterone for over a year I stopped taking them on 27th May and had a small withdrawal which only lasted 6 days which was very un normal as normally its super heavy etc but its been 5 weeks since then and I came on my period yesterday morning and YUP HEAVY no cramps to give me any signals it was coming 🙄 but today its been HEAVY and I've taken to tabs to try and help it to stop being so heavy but I'm having DOUBTS about it!

I need people's experience with tranxamic acid and did it work or not? Cause I can't deal with this heaviness as its a nightmare everytime!

Fortunately I’m past all that now, but tranexamic acid worked for me and also works for my sister who’s menopausal and was having periods so heavy she couldn’t leave the house. The good thing about it for me was I only had to take it for the worst days.

Start again norethisterone tablet 10 mg per day. Then stop tranexamic acid. Now you need hormone tablet. Take a ultrasound scan.

If you stop tranexamic acid, period come again with heavy. So consulate your GP or do online consultation. I used last 18 months, 42 days continuously then withdraw then again take on 2nd day of period.Contains Ethinyl Estradiol (0.02mg)+ Desogestrel (0.15mg). Why what happened during Norethisterone?

Transexmic acid can take 2-3 to start working. Check your hb to know for sure if you can keep waiting...

It says that the tranexamic acid is to stop heavy bleeding only for temporary so that means once I stop taking them after tomorrow which will be 4 days the bleeding will come back heavy again

Hb?

The hope is that after the 4 days the transexmic won't be necessary because your body controls the heavy bleeding by itself. If it doesn't I'm afraid they will give you progesterone again. But if it is not too heavy you can give it time. The only way to know if it is too much is measuring HB, that is the blood measure to see if you are anemic. If you are loosing too much blood HB goes down and that's dangerous, if it is not going down then it might seem a lot of blood but its OK you can wait.. overhere I usually go to the emergency at night because they immediately check my blood (and is the only thing they do when I'm bleeding a lot). I hope this helps!!

Ok someone on here said tranexamic acid only helps to reduce bleeding for the first 3/4 days but then the heavy bleeding returns WTF SERIOUSLY my doctor didn't tell me this as I thought it would help with heavy bleeding then once it gets to day 5 and 6 it will start to get lighter closer to the end of my period which is 9 days sometimes 14

Hi LoneWolf91,

Thank you for your posts a year ago—they were helpful. I’m in a similar situation as you were a year ago and I’m wondering how it’s been going with the traneximic acid each cycle? I transitioned off the norethridone acetate and began the mini pill. I bled heavily the second day and then took one dose (2 pills) of the traneximic acid—which after less than two hours stopped the heavy bleeding. I’m still bleeding (day 4) but it hasn’t been heavy so have not taken anymore traneximic acid. Trying to wait and see if the bleeding will stop on it’s own. Hoping my cycle will regulate and that the traneximic acid can help with those heavy days. Did the traneximic acid help to shorten your periods and lessens the volume after you got off the progesterone? I hope it has!
