PCOS gynae referral

Hi, I have recently been diagnosed with PCOS after ultrasound and blood tests. I have now received a letter saying my gp has referred me to gynae. Just wondering if anyone else had been referred and what to expect at the appointment? Also, if anyone had been referred what treatment they were given. I'm just very nervous at what to expect. Any advice would be appreciated! 😊

Don't be nervous. I would say you are lucky to get the gynae referral. I think they will start with the medication. I have been chasing the GP for a gynae referral but they are not doing so. May I know what are the tests did you take to confirm PCOS ?

My GP suggested he was to write to the hospital for advice but then I got a letter asking to book an appointment! I had 2 lots of blos tests and ultrasound which showed multiple cysts in both ovaries. So was diagnosed with PCOS. Hopefully you'll get your referral soon!

I think it depends on what grounds you’ve been referred, e.g. concern about periods or fertility or other symptoms as to the route. I thought I was being referred for fertility investigation but the gynae said the referral didn’t mention that, so they said the doctor would need to re-word the referral. The first meeting for me was them going through the results and confirming I had PCOS and then sending me for some more blood tests x

I've been referred just for concerns about periods or.... lack of!! I can't go on the pill due to migraines and the mini pill gave me awful side effects so I think that's why I've been referred as my gp was struggling with what to do! Have you had another appointment since your initial one?
