I am 23 and I was Diagnosed with PCOS a few months ago after waiting a year for a diagnosis. I bled for 18 weeks straight last year and have only found one pill that works to stop the bleeding (have been on 4 different ones now). If I stop taking it the bleeding happens again. I don’t truly understand why I bled for so long and it was awful, I had never felt pain like it, some days I couldn’t even stand let alone walk. I’m just wondering if this will make it harder for me to conceive with not stopping bleeding? Me and my partner get married next year and want to try to conceive after the wedding but I’m not sure if I’ll be able too? Thank you for any help!!

PCOS infertility?
I wouldnt have thought so as the bleed doesnt really mean much body wise as far as fertility is concerned as it doesnt help you ovulate (I had relatively regular periods but rarely ovulated).
We have a PCOS UK (Verity) Facebook group which you may want to join as it is quite a lot busier than on here and other ladies who have the same issues may be able to advise what has helped you (closed group so none of your friends can see it)
I have also joined a FB group called PCOS Diet Support & 30 Day Challenge (closed group), her website is really interesting too (smartfertility I think its called) and the diet has helped loads of ladies conceive and reduce their symptoms so there may be other ladies who have the same as you (as bleeding constantly is not good as is extremely draining). I had a diabetes test a month or so ago which was fine but showed an inflammation marker and her diet specifically says inflammation makes pcos symptoms worse and the cause of most inflammation is dairy so I have cut it out (I have coconut milk and violife cheese and cream cheese which is really good surprisingly!!) I have only been doing it 3 weeks so far (and have lost weight which is my main goal as am 50 and hit the menopause which is like pcos times 50, its hideous !)
Thank you for replying! I have joined lots of different Facebook groups to find out how other people are supported with it. I have looked at the diets and am going to start them now I have read up on them. Thank you!
I'm sorry you're facing this. Try to get a good consultation with a fertility doc on this point. Your fertility expert will want you to pass a lot of tests to evaluate your fertility. If not then at the first appointment the doctor reviews your medical history; assesses your general health; arranges initial tests and investigations for you and your partner. Depending on the level of testing already performed, the fertility specialist may order further pathology tests. Pre-pregnancy screening for some genetic conditions such as cystic fibrosis is available too. Other diagnostic tests may include some or all of the following: Rubella immunity (German measles), Chicken pox, Hepatitis B and C, HIV, Full blood count, checking your blood group, thyroid status and Current pap smear (within last 2 years). Vaginal ultrasound to check for fibroids, polyps, ovarian cysts, and to act as a ‘baseline’ for reference during your treatment.
Tests for men usually include: HIV, Hepatitis B and C. Semen analysis to check for antibodies and any possible infection. Once they have the results of these tests, the fertility specialist will meet with you again to explain in detail your recommended treatment plan.
I'm wishing you all the very best, stay well.
