I can't deal with my periods anymore

Hi, this is my first post and I'm reaching out because I am desperate.

At the time of writing this I'm 27, I've had my periods since I was 10 and I was diagnosed with PCOS at 19. Since the age of 13 I've had horrific periods. Sometimes they were completely absent for 9 months, sometimes they were regular but they were ALWAYS heavy.

Right now my doctor has put me on provera to start my periods four times a year to reduce the chances of cancer. However my periods are the worst thing in my life. I will go through two tampons an hour and a pad. I will get up three times during the night to change and sometimes I'm still bleeding through. I teach as well so this makes my life near impossible at work because I can't just leave my lessons to deal with my period.

Along with that I get really bad lower back pain and severe cramps and nausia.

They have also given me trexamic acide and naproxen however it doesn't appear to have any affect on my period.

I feel like something else needs to happen but everytime I go to my doctor I get the same response; take the medication, which I am. How can I make my doctor see that my problem is interferring with my health, daily activities and general life?

I know I don't want children and I would be happy to have a hysterectomy if it came to that decision but something needs to happen and I need help trying to tell my doctor that. Any advice is more than welcome.

Have you considered going on the combined pill - you can take 3 months on the trot so you dont have them that often, as long as you have 4 periods a year then it is ok. I expect your GP would refuse a hysterectomy at your age, but you could ask.

I also think the coil is good from a pcos point of view too (I dont think you have periods at all with a coil as it deals with the womb lining but am no expert on the coil)
