Covid Vaccine - Anyone Booked In - And how

As above really I don’t seem to be able to book it online, and I have no faith whatsoever in my GP practice. Nick.

Nick, according to my tame GP practice manager, 119 is open to book seasonal covid boosters from 18/9. In the meantime she booked me into the local centre for the 10th October. I asked her what’s the delay and apparently different regions get their vaccines at different dates. She asked me to cancel the 10th if I manage to get an earlier vaccine on 119.

Regards Richard

I had a letter and my date for vaccine at Gp. Not England so might be different.

I had a text from my surgery with a link to book an appointment. Very easy and organised.

I called our practice this morning. They didn’t have a clue, said I would be written to but didn’t know when. I rang 119 and the recorded message said they were taking bookings from the 18th. So in limbo at the moment. But thanks anyway. Was it a general link or specific to your Practice/Area?

This is latest info for England-

Scroll down to see how to book- but it’s probably at a designated hub - not your surgery -it seems to vary.

Have you been notified in the past by NHS or your GP?

Thanks DorsetLady, I think this is the general ling to the NHS site that isn’t taking bookings yet. I have had letters from NHS England and texts but nothing from my GP practice.

In that case, I guess some GP surgeries aren't doing this round.. it does seem to vary.. which does not help the end user! .. but nothing new there then.

and 18th is going to be manic😲

Hi. I got a text message from my gp to say I could call in the surgery on saturday with a given time slot. There was also an alternative time if that one wasn't convenient. Such a relief not to have to try and book somewhere. This is for the flu jab.

That’s good ..

yes...I've heard nothing about the covid vaccine, it doesn't seem so urgent these days

It is important for those with various health issues -but think it’s being organised nationwide rather than locally through GP surgeries, so maybe why it’s more long-winded.

Thanks DL. The last one for me was done in a church. I booked it myself as our surgery wasn't offering it, which led me to believe they didn't think it was so necessary now. Might have a look online then, thank you.

Yes, I’m booked in for the end of September. I had a text from GP surgery offering covid and flu, and I booked on the surgery automated system. Not England so it may differ.

The surgery sent a text to book a flu jab. I then got another text to say I could have covid and flu at the same time if I wanted. Have booking for end Sept.

Thats what I was hoping for but they've only offered the flu jab so far...

It might come later. It took about 5 days after the 1st to. to get the 2nd one

Its been 11 days since the nudge for flu, am thinking there'll be nothing from my gp for covid. I had to go elsewhere in May this year.

Thanks everybody for all your help. I went back to the GP practice who were next to useless so this morning when I went to pick up my prescriptions I asked the Pharmacist and she has booked me in for the 28th September. I also asked the GP practice about the Shingles vaccine who told me it was rolling out over 2 years yet my Consultant and Pharmacist says I am entitled now. It’s a pity when you have to ring around and carry on like this. I can see me changing my GP practice soon. Nick

Your pharmacy is giving you the covid vaccine???

Investigator1 profile image

Yes Chris that’s right. I have had 8 doses and out of that lot I have had 3 at the Pharmacy, along with flu jabs. They are brilliant actually.

Worth a go mate. I think the way it works there are something like 20% of Pharmacies who administer various types of jab, I.e flu, shingles, pneumonia Covid etc although during Covid that figure raised to about 50%. It can be quite lucrative for them.

I had my invitation a week ago and was topped up with vaccine on Friday! I hope you get sorted.
