Got my 5th Covid vaccine appointment

I have my 5th Covid vaccine booking for early May, just over 4 months after vaccine 4. I will probably flare badly neurologically for 3 months after, but hey, protection. Wibble!

Note I didn’t book this. In Scotland we’re being sent appointments. But I’ve expected it any time 3-6 months after vaccine 4. The severely immunosuppressed are generally being booked earlier than 6 months.

It is in the Dundee city centre venue again. Just over a week after I am getting my hair cut.

I will enjoy my likely few good weeks left. I plan to recheck my antibodies before and after vaccine 5.

P.S. I’m registered with the Scottish vaccine booking system and they emailed me today about my new appointment. I expect to get an appointment letter in the post after. I’ve been keeping an eye on the Scottish vaccine booking system online at vacs.nhs.scot My appointment is there now.

Great news everything seems to be going smoothly with your NHS and appointments.

I have just had my 5th dose (booster?). I have Rituximab hence severely immunosuppressed. After no 4 a private test showed only 53 micrograms. Subsequently I participated in the Melody study which showed negative for antibodies and for IgG and IgM(?). My question is why do they go on vaccinating after it appears I receive no benefits from them. Not complaining mind you !!

Sympathies. That’s a question you should ask your medics.

I was lucky that vaccine 3 - the 3rd primary - rocketed up my antibody level massively. I’d had only an extremely low level of antibodies after vaccines 1 and 2 (yes I know I was lucky to have even that).

I am on Mycophenolate Mofetil and steroids. And grateful the vaccines help me, even if each one gives me 3 months of devastating increased neurological symptoms to cope with. But it may save my life.

Good news. I hope you are not too poorly afterwards.

I pay for private testing. I use Medichecks but there are lower cost options. I can afford this, and found it helpful to know the information during the pandemic to help me decide how to navigate risks.
