Am awaiting another rituximab infusion. However my eye pain is severe this time. Even though there isn't any inflammation in the eyes, I have been to hospital due to migraine sickness and continue having migraine attack every week. Please suggest measures to control migraine. I suspect it's the co-tramaxizole medicine which brings its side effect of sensitivity to light and triggers migraine. I look forward to hearing more on how others manage this situation please.

Anyone with vasculitis having frequent migraines during flare up?

Hi PreetyK
I have found the book 'Managing your Migraine' by Katy Munro very helpful.
It is a Penguin Life Experts book. ISBN 978-0-241-51428-3.
A freezable 'Ice Kap' (see Pg 66) works well for me if I catch the development of the head pain in time.
Best Wishes,
Budapest
Sadly I can't help with your eye problem. I was on regular infusions of Rituximab for several years bur I never suffered from eye pain so I am not much use to you.
hi there . My first port of call with all eye related symptoms is to head to Boots opticians . I have found them to be superb snd you can generally get an urgent appointment. They picked up on a number of issues and rapidly referred me to appropriate place like the Eye Hospital in Edinburgh ( again superb) . I have had issues from Rituximab , methotrexate and Sterioids which caused problems in my eyes. All now well monitored . Good luck

To PreetyK,
Yes, get advice without delay from an Optician or a Hospital Emergency Eye clinic. The health of your eyes is so important. You could also ring NHS 111
Hi Budapest,You are absolutely correct. Actually the migraine onset started a month ago with severe vomitting every half to one hour which wouldn't stop for good 12-13 hours. I have had two such incidences in a gap of two weeks. The second time I had to be hospitalised and they had to put me on saline drip with anti sickness and paracetamol Injection. Also, my migraine is present everyday and is triggered by pain in the eyes similar to the one we get in vasculitis sometimes combined with blocked nose. I got my eyes checked. I can't even bear the light during the checkups. However, the opthalmology confirmed there is no inflammation. Yesterday morning my eye had constant water coming out of it and was very painful. Contacted the EERS triage team again and they said that it is migraine and if the headache continues to visit again on Monday. Not being able to tell the vasculitis pain apart from migraine is the biggest challenge. But I keep popping sumatriptan to avoid getting sick with vomiting. I haven't tried Ice Kap yet. I and am looking for any advise that comes through. Try it if I haven't because I have had way too many migraine attacks in such a short time and that is new for me.
