Hood morning everyone and thank you so much for your support so far. I’m still investigating how to try and get my my tested for vasculitis. She has a diagnosis of bronchocentric glanulomatosis currently but I would like her tested for vasculitis as she is currently just being treated with steroids so I’m worried that once she stops them the symptoms will come back.. zHer most recent symptoms following a lung operation 18 months ago to o remove suspected cancer which turned out to be a glanulous mass (I think) has been continual cough and breathlessness. But previous to this she had (still has) asthma, a dinus operation (blowing out scans from her nose), nasal drip, and the removal of a tumour in the brain. I am interested to know if the rash is a necesssy symptom as this seems to be the only thing she doesn’t have. Thank you all so much. Sam

Is there always a rash with vasculitis?
Vasculitis causes a multitude of sins, and as I have discovered, we all vary in how it affects us, and which treatments are best for each of us. I am certainly no expert on this, and can only relate my own experiences. Following sudden unexplained breathing problems, spirometry and x-ray, the Chest Physician sent me for over a dozen Blood tests. These tests included Vasculitis and ANCA. They came back ANCA Positive, and despite not having Asthma, they said I had EGPA. The Vasculitis had damaged my lungs and kidneys, and further problems reared their ugly heads. I didn't ever have a rash as such, but kept having sudden appearances of Purpura in various sizes. Things calmed down after treatment, but I occasionally get the odd Purpura pop up now and again. I hope this helps, because there is no straight answer to any of this. Good luck!
Most people don't have a rash.
Not everyone is ANCA positive with vasculitis especially if they are already on high dose of steroids.
I have GPA and yes whenever I have a flare up I have a blistered type rash, all over my body, but like previously said with vasculitis there are a plethora of symptoms that not everyone suffers from, it's very random, so in answer to your question, no you do not need a rash for it to be vasculitis. Good luck in getting a diagnosis.
Speak to someone on the Vasculitis telephone helpline. Your mother may need assessment at a specialist unit.
no , the short answer is no it’s not necessary to have a rash to have a diagnosis of vasculitis.
A good doctor should look at all Blood tests results, all signs and symptoms and how the patient is feeling.
Hi when I got diagnosed I had a skin biopsy. My gp kept on giving me dermatitis cream , my rash got worse and I finally after 3 tubes of cream got transferred to dermatology. Mine was red spots and some blistery ones. My inflammation was up. I felt let down but the vasculits has made my body weak because I didn't get diagnosed it took months and months
Hope this helps
