Dear All,
I went to 'Sandpipers', which is Run by ReVitalise, formerly the Winged Fellowship Trust- founded by Joan Brander MBE. (If anyone want more details, on this, please contact me.) The Centre is, about a mile- or so- outside Southport and at the far end of the, absolutely beautiful, Marine Lake. The Centre is Fully 'Accessible', for wheelchair users, and features a Hydrotherapy Pool- available at most times. There are quite a number, of Day Trips, that can be chosen from however, if you chose to, remain in the Centre there are Day Time activities as well. One day I did Rock Painting- exactly what it 'says on the tin'- on another a quiz and, on another, I avoided the 'Bingo'! Evening entertainment, was mainly Singers, though- one evening- a lady came in with Animals. Friendly Rabbit, Bald Guinea Pig, Small Owl a Snake and either a Gecko, or an Iguana, I'm not sure which.
I went into Liverpool, which I enjoyed- I only went there once before and it RAINED the whole time. It is a fine City where, and this is difficult to describe, somehow the Old, and the New, Architecture exist 'Side by Side'. Let me try to explain....an old Rice Mill, is still standing, it's Car Park still used- yes there are 'plans' to redevelop but, very clearly, there is NO 'Rush'! The same is true in Manchester, and indeed Chester, all of which I visited. Whilst Manchester and Liverpool have the 'Feeling', of being, Major Cities somehow Chester is Different. That is hard to explain- I'm getting a LOT of these, aren't I? Somehow Chester 'Feels' more Intermate - almost like you could 'Wear' it.
To me the most 'Special' moment came in Southsea (I think that's what it was called?) There were two Museums one was the Lowry (Match Stork Men...) and the other a 'Life and Times/ Military' Museum. In this Museum was, part of, The Twin Towers which I Visited, way back in 1997, despite this being marked 'Do Not Touch' I was allowed to do so....and make a Prayer- the Security Guard even echoed my 'Amen'. (This was a very 'Personal' moment which, I'm relating, as part of my Holiday).
Yes I went into Southport, with a small group, a small 'Sea Side' Town with all the usual 'Things'- perhaps a few more Amusements than Clacton and a Bit Bigger....Yes pleasant, nice Fish and Chips. I found a CEX shop and bought, amongst other things, the whole Rocky Series for SIX Pounds.
I won't Waffle On, too much more now, suffice to say I made some new Friends and had some Good Times.
Hope you all enjoyed reading, my 'Journal', please feel free to ask any questions.
Kindest Wishes
AndrewT
