Hi. Quick question - Has anyone had their application to renew their blue badge declined since the introduction of the new criteria set out by the Department of Transport ?

If you have hi rate mobility then you get the badge automatically if you apply for it.you have to be very carefully when you apply for DLA or pip as its now called,I spent 4 hours when I last applied for it,because a lot of the questions contradict each other, its not for your benefit or help you,its so that they can save more money on benefits?if you have anymore probs getting DLA or pip,I'd be happy to help you with any questions

You'll find a lot of help with claiming PIP (and ESA) here :

dwpexamination.org

We'll run forum - members have loads of experience

That is fantastic & will help when my DLA & ESS get changed to the PIP. I had an indefinite award due to having three chronic conditions but I can see this doesn't matter now. Great site

Excellent news. I know a huge amount of effort goes into keeping the forum up to date. There's also plenty of topical stuff and a fair bit of banter to keep everyone's spirits up! Next time you're there say hi to Admin 😊

Thank you so much for your replies. As I don't claim any other benefits I guess that's goodbye to my blue badge. Absolutely gutted as it's the only help I've ever asked for 😥

Did you obtain your blue badge due to  ET?   I  hear of late  the rules are stricter nowadays,  however you could always appeal  their decision.

I have had 3   weekend were I double the dose of hydroxy  and   I do not seem to get

The tingling at the moment,.....touch wood....at 1st   my   right   leg  would pain

But this weekend it's been ok,  so   between   showers of rain,   I actually ventured into

My garden.     IT'S SO GOOD WHEN THE SUN SHINES...

Hi. You now need to meet the new Dept of Transport criteria for higher rate DLA to be eligible for a blue badge.

That is not necessarily so. I had higher rate mobility but that changed to lower rate but, because I had a blue badge before I was able to produce mitigating letters and explain just how often I go to hospital and Doctors & give reasons why I needed one. The onus is upon you to provide evidence and so I now keep every single letter and photocopy them. Your GP now doesn't get to write in support of you as GP's were charging for this so it stopped.

Please don't give up and keep appointment letters and also letters from consultants and specialists, that give diagnosis and treatment information.

I had my blue badge renewed last month and am on low rate mobility. I think it very much depends upon the local authority that deals with it too.

Hello, you can apply for a discretionary blue badge from your local council - Each local council manages the administration of the blue badge applications for their own area. If you are  awarded enhanced rate mobility PIP you qualify for an automatic badge but if you don't claim PIP or if you only get standard rate PIP you can complete an application, which will include some health questions, to determine your need. Based on your application you may be asked to attend an assessment before a decision is made.

Contact you local council to start the process.

no but I DID have to have a 'review' after I appealed against a refusal, in the first instance. see my older 'posts', on the subject Nell.
