I received a letter about my latest consultation and its says that my lymphocyte count is only 0.22, should I be worried? I've been trying to google what it should be and I can't find anything that makes sense to me ha.
Might be a silly question: I received a letter... - Vasculitis UK
Might be a silly question

I am not medically trained but 0.22 seems low to me. Lymphocytes are a type of white blood cells responsible for fighting infections. There are several possible causes for a low lymphocyte count, including certain infectious diseases, but, unless you know you have an infection, it is more likely to be your medication which is causing the problem. The use of steroids and/or immune system suppressant drugs can be responsible for the low lymphocyte count. I suspect that your consultant will look at changing your medication, either the type you take or the dosage and that should solve the problem. Have you talked to him about this?

There's no such thing as a silly question here. Vasculitis is a complicated condition and we all have questions from time to time.
I'm not a medical person but my latest lymphocyte count was 0.4 which is judged to be 'low'. As Ayla says, the medication we take will often cause a low result. My consultant has altered the parameters on my results as they are usually low.
Occasionally it has fallen very low and I've had to come off the medication for a short while until it creeps back up.
Dear turtleface,
I agree that there is no such thing as a silly question here, that's important to know! I don't know an answer to your question only that it's not silly to ask!
I don't know if this has been any help, to you......Is there such a thing as a silly answer?
Best wishes anyway
