I have had them and have graves and now arthritiis. i am told i need another root canal but not sure what to do as tooth in front of my mouth.
has anyone thought/heard about root canals and ... - Thyroid UK
has anyone thought/heard about root canals and autoimmune diseases,
Yes pegs I have read somewhere the evils of root canal treatment, sorry I cannot give you a reference but am sure somebody here will be able to help, perhaps if you google root canal treatment and immune system you may find answers.
I agree Joyia, I have read the same somewhere.
Back in the day when I was very poorly with M.E. practically every week I was in the dentist chair, I now have a face full of fillings and root canals. Definitely a connection with thyroid problems, that I was unaware of then.
I am sure without the internet and forums like this, I would be still ignorant of the connection.
Hi
I had root canal treatment on 14 February, within 10 days of this treatment my knee became very swollen and stiff, and has remained so. Although I have many aches and pains because of hypothyroidism, I never had this problem with my knee before the root canal, and should probably see my GP, however, I am fast loosing faith in medics due to the way I have been treated in relation to my Thyroid (wholly unsatisfactory in my opinion). My own theory about the root canal is that there is a causal link to the knee problems, I'm sure my GP would be dismissive of this theory, so I am avoiding making an appointment.
In spite of having the root canal I am still experiencing some dental pain, and the tooth has become a little loose. I have almost decided that if this does not improve by the end of April, I will go back to the dentist and ask for it to be removed. I'm hoping that this will not only cure the toothache, but will also resolve the problem with my knee.
Hi strong connection between teeth and low Vit D ( hormonal).Make sure you have had a vit D test, then if low corrected calcium, if calium in range, vit D, script is possible, under endo ideal, then retest both after 3 months for levels, D takes 3 months to optimise.
Best wishes,
Jackie
Oh dear not something else!! I have to go to a specialist dentist tomorrow for a root canal...which ironically was probably triggered by my sugar/fat/salt cravings all last year when my thryoid/adrenal treatment was completely messed up... I'm sure all that turron I was eating broke the tooth and now I have the damage.... I'm pumped up on Vit D and calcium but I think my dental problems are due to being premature etc... my mother recently informed (about 40 years too late) that the paediatrician did say I'd have problems with my 'bones'...as I get older......It seems that everything is inter-linked isn't it? I've got Hashi....but I'm sure I got that from the whiplash I got from the driving school instructor...only realised it months later.... another link... we definitely learn a lot on this site don't we! take care Caroline
....apparently it is almost impossible to do a perfect root canal filling. Often there is a little microscopic bit left out and the infection remains. This in time gets picked up by the blood supply. Have also read that heart problems are linked to severely poor dental health. Had a root canal filling that has taken over a year to settle - pain wise.
Hope all goes well for you....
Hi to all. I continuously am amased about how many things pop up on this blog that I can relate to! I have had a few root canal treatments myself! And am actually afraid to book an appointment with the dentist for just a normal check up as every time in the past years that would result in a filling to be done wich then would end up not being enough, leave me with pain and then another root canal treatment.
I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 2010. A severe enough one actually. And I am treating myself for hypothiroidism basically...
The fibromyalgia gives me my ups and downs. Stress does have a big negative impact.
And for the thyroid I have visited a doctor from the list Jackie gave me. Just had a first appointment last Friday, had some more tests done and will have a second appointment in May. I was so nervous for the appointment as I have been told so many things over the years... How it is all in my head, or just stress, or me looking for an excuse for overeating... That I am afraid of what I am going to have to listen to next... So far, so good with this one. Although I first need to go back with the test results to hear what his conclusions are...
Anyway... Just a general thank you to all sharing their stories as it does help to read that I am not alone in this endless and painful battle.
Let's hope awareness becomes better and better as time goes by.
Take care
