How should i take levo&t3 combo with ndt(armour)?

Hello,

Because I don't feel good on synthetic I would like to switch on combo. Is there someone who takes it like that?

I am currently taking 125mcg levo and 10 T3 slow-release caps. I have 1 grain of Armour ndt tabs.

How much should I lower my levo dose to get the same dose? Should I drop to 88 or 75 of Tirosint?

In the past, I was only on NDT (nature-throid) but my FT4 dropped to much, below the minimum laboratory value and I didn't feel well either. So I don't want to add more than 1 grain or at most 1,5grain .

Hi - I saw your current post about changing to Thyroid-s but I take Armour and Tirosint so thought I'd respond here. And this is just what seems to work for me.

I take this combination - Currently 75 of Tirosint and 45 of Armour (1grain = 60). (I had been on this in the past.) I started on 75 Tirosint and 60 of Armour for two weeks but it was too much. I was transitioning from 75 Levoxyl which was doing me no good. When looking at amounts I go with 60 of Armour being 38 of T4 and 9 of T3. So in my way of looking at it when taking 60 of Armour I was actually taking (75 + 38) 113 T4 with 9 of T3. Which is close to your dose above, 125 plus 10 T3. For me I needed to reduce the amount so did so by reducing the Armour. I had taken Tirosint in the past and in terms of my system it is just so much better than what I had been on - but I could tell staying at 75 Tirosint and 60 of Armour was going to be too much. I don't know if you were thinking of continuing with your 10 of slow release T3 though.

Usually you might post your current bloodwork to get feedback so maybe that would be helpful just to see how you fT4 and fT3 were doing. If you were stopping the Slow release T3 then maybe 88 Tirosint with 60 of Armour would be combination to think about. But if continuing with the slow release T3 it might be too much T3 with 88 + 38 = 126 T4 and 10 + 9 = 19 of T3 which would be twice as much.

Going back on Tirosint is what I should have done but didn't remember how to get it when insurance denied coverage. (I'm back in the US after being in the UK so changing brands happening). Currently just take them both in the morning. Maybe taking 2.5 T3 would be nice around lunchtime but need to do bloodwork first and talk with Dr.

Hope you find the combination that works for you.

hI, thanks for the advice. The last batch of Armour seems to me to be less potent. I'll try to get down to 88 or 75mcg of Tirosint, although it's no fun to be underdosed. I will also keep the 10mcg dose of T3-SR, I think it will help me not feel the transition to a lower dose of Tirosint . I'm thinking of switching to Thyroid-S when I finish the Armour box(cost issues).

I noticed that T3-SR works much better than normal t3(Thybon), besides, I couldn't even take a dose of 10 T3 *(Thybon) at once(I'm bloated, I feel tired, heavy, and my joints hurt). I noticed that T3 -SR has the same effect as normal T3 and the blood tests look better. I noticed that T3 has the same effect as normal T3 and the blood tests look better but with fewer side effects.

Thanks for the reply. I have tried many variations but did not know there was a slow release T3 available. One of the reasons I've liked Armour was because regular T3 even though it was ok at one time, it hit me like a ton of bricks the last time I tried it. Understand about cost - Tirosint expensive, Armour expensive and for 45 of Armour the ideal would be 30+15 so added cost. So I break up 60s. Thinking about trying NP ndt but then thought not another change! Felt over anxious on 60 Armour so same old advice - gotta listen to the body, Best wishes
