They show same as 3 mths ago ~ sub clinical hypothyroidism (over range TSH while fT4 still within range).
and the positive TPOab result confirms the cause of your hypothyroidism is autoimmune ( which fits with your previous history of ?hyper episode in 2018 and hypo episode in pregnancy )
positive TPOab means you are more likely to end up 'overtly' hypothyroid (fT4 below range) at some point in the future anyway , due to ongoing autoimmune damage to your thyroid. which means GP's are more willing to prescribe levo while results are still 'only' subclinical.
since this is your second over range TSH result, and since you have positive thyroid antibodies
AND if ? you currently have symptoms of hypothyroidism that significantly affect daily life ,
then your GP should consider offering you a trial of levothyroxine .
see section 1.5 Managing and monitoring subclinical hypothyroidism in here : nice.org.uk/guidance/ng145/... ( current NHS guidelines)
Thank you for replying. Yes it seems it’s subclinical again? I did the test privately as the GP does not do T3 test and I also have this massive fear of blood tests. The finger prick option is great for me.
I’m not sure what the GP would advise seeing the results from MonitormyHealth.
The currently symptoms I have are (sorry if it’s TMI) hair loss on my underarm. It’s complete gone, but I’m not complaining about that. Lol. My full blood count is normal, ferritin and b12 normal and vitamin D is normal. All within good/optimal ranges.
how's the heart rate thing you mentioned in your first post doing now ?
any other symptoms of hypo ? feeling colder than everyone else? mentally slow ?constipated ? legs feel like lead / wading through treacle ? raised cholesterol ?
if you currently feel ok energy wise , and if heart function / cholesterol are ok , then personally, if it was me , would just keep an eye on things every 3/6mths , but not start levo yet unless/ until you develop problems . others might disagree and advise you start now .
some people feel absolutely dreadful when only subclinical , but others won't feel any symptoms until fT4 is well below range.
some people with positive TPOab will worsen to 'overt' hypo rapidly , within weeks/ months from being subclinical , but others will take decades to worsen to that point. and some might never get that bad .
when you start levo , the TSH will lower, which means you then loose some of the T3 your thyroid is currently producing (Higher TSH causes thyroid to increase T3 production)
So levo tends to make you feel better of you are very hypo , but if you are not yet very hypo .then adding levo may theoretically make you feel worse .
when to start levo depends very much on how you feel now.
I’ve been feeling alright, better than before. I still have an elevated heart rate but no more fatigue. I eat cleaner, green juicing and more fresh foods. Other than that I’d say I’m well. I’ve been avoiding all gluten for ten years, due to IBS and bile acid malabsorption issues.
Will book an appointment with GP to discuss the issues you’ve raised. Folate levels are good. Il hunt down my most recent vitamin levels and post here. Thanks both for your input.
