Has anyone else found the Better You magnesium spray irritating to the skin? I get very itchy and burning from using it.

I used the Better You Joint one which is magnesium plus other stuff and liked it, but had been advised by professional that the Magnesium one some people find irritating. Was in dire need of joint relief so was glad the Joint one was ok for me.

I take a lot of Magnesium orally so maybe why tolerated it - Cavelierrubie input sounds good

There is one for sensitive skin. If l remember correctly, when l first started it, my skin did the same and the leaflet said it was because my body was lacking in the mineral. Not sure how true that is, but l had to use the sensitive one and then progress to the original. Hope that helps.

Thanks- I'll do a bit more research and look at the sensative product. I didn't see that when I bought it.

I had the same problem initially, m skin would be really red and irritated, but after using for a while it subsided and I can use it with no problem. The sensitive version is half the strength of magnesium chloride (15% v 31%) so maybe using less of the one you have would be worth trying before buying more. Also perhaps using on less sensitive parts of the body or small sprays in different areas.

I find it irritates and prickles when I first start using it. Then as the days go on that irritation recedes.

The guide says it is because you are deficient, but that continued use ups your body’s amount therefore it doesn’t irritate any more! 🤷‍♀️

Yes, same fir me, prickles at first, then after few days stops...Worst bit I find is the stickiness. I spray it into hand and rub on, but doesn't want to soak in easily. ..so usually put it on feet and wear socks.

I spray directly on and rub in. Trying to find a spot which isn't already prickly with neuropathy!!

I found it impossible to use because of the itching. Take an oral magnesium supplement now. If I used the spray again would be interesting to see if it itched because I’m definitely not deficient any more!

I might end up doing the same, although I'm taking so many pills and I want to reduce the stress on my guts. I'll persevere for a while. Thanks.

I take oral magnesium glycinate. In the past, I used the spray and yes, it did burn and put this gross sticky coating on my skin. So I only ended up using spray magnesium as a last resort on some excessively sore area,. Then, after an hour, I would scrub off the stickiness with a wet towel or take a shower.

Thanks - sounds like a good plan to wash it off!!!

A good topical mg is likely to do that.

On the one i use which is ancient minerals it says to wash of after 10 minutes. They also do one for sensitive skin

Thanks. I'll do that as the prickles last for ages.

I gave up with it as it would break me out in spots due to the oily/stickiness on my skin. I heard the child’s version is not as strong and people find it more tolerable. Also you can rub it on the soles of your feet before bed instead of legs or arms, but personally I still hated the feel of sticky feet!

I do Epsom baths 2-3 times a week in winter (I buy a huge drum of it from Amazon).

I've got the gel type from Better You. Still a bit sticky, you don't need much of it. Don't sting though.

Epsom salt is great way to help the Magnesium levels. Magnesium Chloride which is in most topical/transdermal applications can I was told itch tingle at first use and can be a sign your body needs it, and may subside however you can still have reactions to anything or added perfumes and other ingredients so it’s a try and see issue.

I use the Neom range, the magnesium bath soak and magnesium body butter in Real luxury scent…a less perfumed one I also have at hand when I don’t want that heavier scent (although love the smell) plain Epsom salts for bath or foot soak and Harrogate organics company do a good spray, on that it’s says for those with sensitive skin you dilute 50% on the bottle discontinue if irritation occurs.

Such a wide range of magnesium types of supplements to take orally you need to choose for what you want to treat really.

I have used Neutrient Magnesium Capsules before it has 4 chelated types I took predominantly to help constipation it does have citrate & oxide forms, I had no issues ,there’s others available some that include zinc B6 D3 one is Swallow I’ve seen recently, look it up but there’s an ever increasing supplements on the market and this area isn’t regulated, but some brands do test… look for clean supplements many are waste of money as full of nasty fillers and possibly not much actual vitamin or mineral … it can get quite confusing when start looking and often there’s another better version only to follow year down the line so keeping up with what’s good changes often.😵‍💫
