I've been hypothyroid since 2010, and never well. This is my first post to the forum, having followed the community for a few months. As a result of this I have now transferred from Levothyroxine only, to Efra Thyroid only, with reasonable success.
I have recently had a comprehensive thyroid and vitamin blood test to be able to get my self started with a base line to start taking appropriate supplements.
However the TPO Ab & TgAb were included and I was wondering whether I should be bothered or not with the high figure, or is normal for my condition?
Like everyone I'm trying to understand this very mis-understood disease with its extreme emotional, mental and physical effects.
Thank you for any comments/ thoughts.
Below are the latest full blood tests - I am currently taking Efra 90 .
Good evening Whammy Girl and Welcome to the forum.
This is just quick response to welcome you and acknowledge your first post whilst you're waiting for someone - either admin or another more knowledgeable member - to come along and respond (sorry, I'm in the process of going out and also have neither the knowledge nor, currently, the cognitive capacity to assist you).
It would help anyone coming to respond to you, however, if you could fill in more details of your history of being hypothyroid/having Hashimoto's on your Bio, including with any results you have (ranges in brackets). Also, are you in the UK?
Hopefully, someone will be along soon to respond more fully but, do be aware that everyone on the forum, including admins, do this entirely voluntarily whilst also having to manage their own lives and conditions.
ETA: It's actually the TFT results - Free T3/T3, FreeT4/T4 and TSH - together that are needed to see what's going on with the thyroid at this time. So, if you have those to hand, please put them on your Bio and/or add them to your post (you can edit your post by pressing the arrow at the bottom of the post and selecting the edit function; or if you have a good screenshot of them, just post that in a reply to your post). The antibodies don't actually "do anything" except show that your thyroid is undergoing an[other] autoimmune attack. Hope that helps.
Thank you PRJ20 for your prompt and information, most appreciated.
I shall hopefully find the Bio to fill in. I'm very grateful to the all the admins on this site, as it has been transformative in developing my understanding of my illness, as I read many of the posts and replies with interest.
For the admins: I am in no rush for a reply to this query, thank you in advance
I've just edited to add the last bit: hope you've seen that? To complete your Bio click on your icon or name, which will take you to your page then, depending on what device you're on, you'll find Bio on the left of the page. Just click on the edit box to get started.
