Hi haven't had update on my blood test yet as Dr was supposed to ring me this morning to discuss them .I had text message from reception saying this morning but moones rung maddening really as I hover in case miss calls . The vitamin d result came through yday saying satisfactory from lab . 25-50 is insufficient 50 -150 is adequate . My reading was 49.99 making it way off being adequate if needed be at upper end . What do you think .I was ready to ask dr all this but no phone call .feel like being left on low dose and needlessly. Tbh . .the dream is to get the dosage where it needs to be as quickly as possible and so far I don't have much faith in Dr's . My 25mcg thyroxine is a te va one will hope to get on to 100 mcg next x

GPs dont generally prescribe anything near enough to get your vit D to optimal. Probably best to use the calculator to work out how much you need to take to get to around 100.

Buy one that includes vit K2 to help it go to your bones. Some are available in oil or you can take it with an oily meal for better absorption. Many members like the ‘Better You’ range of mouth sprays that contain both bit D & K2. Use this calculator to work out how much to take to get your level to 100-150. Most people need a minimum of 3,000iu per day.grassrootshealth.net/projec...

Jumping from 25mcgs to 100mcgs is a big step. Usually people increase by maximum 25mcgs each stage, then retest after 6-8 weeks and increase again by max 25mcgs.

Did you get other vitamin levels checked and what were they, along with reference range?

Is this result after being on 75mcg ?

Aiming for Ft4 and Ft3 at least 60-70% through range minimum

Frequently this will mean TSH will fall to BELOW 1 ……often below range

Guidelines of dose Levo by weight

approx how much do you weigh in kilo

Even if we frequently start on only 50mcg, most people need to increase levothyroxine dose slowly upwards in 25mcg steps (retesting 6-8 weeks after each increase) until eventually on, or somewhere near full replacement dose (typically 1.6mcg levothyroxine per kilo of your weight per day)

cks.nice.org.uk/topics/hypo...

bnf.nice.org.uk/drugs/levot...

nhs.uk/medicines/levothyrox...

Adults usually start with a dose between 50 micrograms and 100 micrograms taken once a day. This may be increased gradually over a few weeks to between 100 micrograms and 200 micrograms taken once a day.

Some people need a bit less than guidelines, some a bit more

TSH should be under 2 as an absolute maximum when on levothyroxine

onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi...

If symptoms of hypothyroidism persist despite normalisation of TSH, the dose of levothyroxine can be titrated further to place the TSH in the lower part of the reference range or even slightly below (i.e., TSH: 0.1–2.0 mU/L), but avoiding TSH < 0.1 mU/L. Use of alternate day dosing of different levothyroxine strengths may be needed to achieve this (e.g., 100 mcg for 4 days; 125 mcg for 3 days weekly).

sciencedirect.com/science/a...

The optimal daily dose in overt hypothyroidism is 1·5–1·8 μg per kg of bodyweight, rounded to the nearest 25 μg.
