T3 is high

I had my annual thyroid function test last week and it looks as if my Vitamin D, B12, Folate and Fe4rritin are all a bit on the low side. As I haven't been taken any supplements this year because they were mostly very high when they tested last year, this isnt surprising and I will now begin topping up. What did surprise me was my T3 result. (I'm on T3 only.) It was a little high last year (8.5 pmol/L [3.1 - 6.8]) so I reduced it to 60 mcg and didnt expect it to be even higher this year. I have put my results below and they were taken first thing in the morning before eating and after taking T3 12.5 hours beforehand.

Serum TSH level 0.01 mIU/L [0.27 - 4.2];

Serum free T4 level < 0.5 pmol/L [12.0 - 22.0];

Serum free triiodothyronine level 12.4 pmol/L [3.1 - 6.8]

Serum vitamin B12 level 384 ng/L [130.0 - 800.0];

Serum folate level 12.0 ug/L [4.0 - 27.0]

Serum ferritin level 74 ug/L [30.0 - 150.0];

Serum vitamin D level 59 nmol/L [50.0 - 300.0];

Does anyone have any thoughts on this please?

I suppose I am wondering if thyroids can get better on their own. I have been eating a very good diet in the last 20 months. Could that have helped my thyroid work more efficiently? Should I begin reducing my dose? I have been feeling a bit under the weather lately and thought it was probably to do with lower vits and mins. If I increase them will my body use the t3 I take more efficiently.

Sounds a bit weird. Maybe worth leaving a while and redoing test to make sure? Unlikely you have miraculously got better from a better diet.

PaulRobinson seems to be of the view that blood tests for patients on T3 only are so misleading that they cannot be relied on. Look at his own website for ways to check out your treatment is in fact working for you.

No useful thoughts, but questions -sorry if being nosy. It says T4 is almost non-existent. Is that correct? And is it normal for you? (I know nothing about being on T3 only). Do you just rely on your blood tests, or do you alter dose according to symptoms?

That's correct when on T3 only.

I have read the Paul Robinson books success stories and many of the people have reduced their T3 after being on it for some time. Your FT4 will be low when taking T3 only that's fine.
