Omg just received the prescription for peppermint capsules 🙈

Hi AGAIN everyone ❤️

This saga is beyond belief🤷‍♀️ just reading the leaflet accompanying the peppermint oil capsules.

First there's a lot of 💩 fillers in it , as well as containing 0.2 ml of actual peppermint oil, it also contains the following.

Gelatin, glycerol, purified water, titanium divide powder, (E171), chlorophyll copper complex sodium, (E141) aqua polish and propylene glycol.🥵🥵

Below it says.

DO NOT TAKE THESE CAPSULES IF:

you suffer from inflammation of the bile duct, GALLSTONES, or anyother bile disorders

I have GALLSTONES!!

And silly me I lumped all my gastric issues in to a condensed version the gp could take in, diarrhoea, cramps, inflammation burning sensation in upper gut ect , forgetting to mention the gallstone pain I have whilst on the synthetic version of thyroid hormone , I know the pain of a gallstone flare up..its awful.

So....im thinking I should perhaps steer clear of these peppermint capsules 🤷‍♀️ any thoughts members ❤️

She obviously hasn't seen my diagnosis of GALLSTONES 🙄

Hey there again :

I think I'd just send an email to the doctor - asking her to check your medical record -

as it should detail a health issue of gallstones and for which this medication is contraindicated and you would have thought the computer would have flagged this up ?

The money being wasted not to prescribe you the most appropriate medical treatment is beyond belief.

You really do take your health into your own hands when you consult a GP nowadays, don't you. I certainly wouldn't take those capsules with all that in them. You can get just peppermint oil to use as drops in water, and I used to take this with good results for period pain. Not sure what else it is good for though. I do wish you good luck with all your problems with Levothyroxine. I am another happy customer of Roseway Labs NDT.

Thank you nightingale-56❤️

I really don't want to be putting those fillers into my stomach , just looking at the list 👀 and my anxiety is hitting the roof, I recognise some of them from previous tablets I've taken especially the glycerol and gelatin .

I feel so much better gastric wise everything is calm down there, stomach is great so I know these thyroid ndt capsules are working gut wise, I was however informed by the representative at roseway that because my TSH was 45.66 and both Ts are very low it will take sometime to feel any effect from the ndt possibly needing around 2 months supply of the medication , I've not really felt much body wise [ only the gastric issue] I still feel hypo , not much energy yet ..today I've woke feeling weak in my whole body with what I can only describe as a jelly stomach, nervous feeling [ not gastric , more weak feeling 🤷‍♀️ .

I have primary hyperparathyroidism so it could be that I'm dehydrated , drinking loads of water today 👍

You're not really going to feel much better yet, until you get that high TSH down and FT3/4 in a better range, but do hope it happens quickly for you. Whatever capsule I have, and Roseway's one at the moment is Pig Gelatine Capsule, so I just take it out of the capsule and dissolve it in water. It does dissolve fairly well. My blood levels are the best they have been for a long time, with vits and mins not too bad. Will keep working on those. I would imagine your hypoparathyroidism might add to your woes. Do hope that you continue to improve.

I was told to take the power out to👍 I mix it in water also , the representative at roseway told me to do that as my gut and stomach are so sensitive, best to eliminate anything that can cause flare ups....yet gp gives me peppermint capsules with a cocktail of fillers....you gotta laugh or you'd cry...😂😂😂

Good to hear this birkie , as I have always been told not to do this, so good to know that it is safe to do so. I can't say it has made any difference, apart from the fact that a sticky substance no longer comes through my skin, which has been happening since Mercury Pharma began causing problems with skin for my Son and me in 2010. Just seem to have found a shampoo that I can't taste in my mouth a couple of hours after I have washed my hair also, Aveeno with Apple Cider Vinegar. I have spent far too many tears on the Levo problem so far.

Hoooo!! you mentioned the skin thing nightingale 👀 that's peak my interest because when I was on the synthetic t4, t3 my sweat smelt like a dead corpse..I mentioned it on a couple of posts, it stank 🤢 and no matter how hygienic i was it never went, until now 🙌 and I had what I would call salt or grains in it, it was especially bad under my armpits , its gone now😀 so I really think something in the synthetic version cause that🤔

Can't say that was a problem I had (others might say different though). My problem was with Mercury Pharma. I had been on Goldshield Eltroxin since 1997 until we were changed to Mercury Pharma, and the skin problem happened a couple of months after this. I might have attributed it to something else, but for the fact that my Son began having the same skin problem at the same time and the only thing changed was from Goldshield Eltroxin to Mercury Pharma, but for both of us, it has not abated yet. I really don't know where to look next for an answer, as have been to top Dermatologist at The Royal London Hospital, who could not look me in the eye when I asked for a diagnosis. I have also been to the Health Ombudsman, and NHS England (Simon Stevens and Jeremy Hunt. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. I was thinking something along the lines of having samples taken and tested, but don't really know where to go with this as NHS just say tests that have been done are inconclusive (well they would, wouldn't they, as they were the ones to give this medication)! At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I believe it was to do with Acacia Powder not being heat treated properly.

I don't have high hopes that this will be useful, but the NHS has listed quite a lot of different brands of peppermint oil that can be prescribed, and you could look them up online :

bnf.nice.org.uk/drugs/peppe...

and to see the list that can be prescribed see the medicinal forms :

bnf.nice.org.uk/drugs/peppe...

The Electronic Medicines Compendium (emc) has a few peppermint oil Patient Information Leaflets you can view as well :

medicines.org.uk/emc/search...

There are also some SmPC leaflets (Summary of Product Characteristics) which you can read too.

Thanks humanbean❤️

I'm asking myself if it was this simple [peppermint oil] why didn't my gastro just pescribe it🤔

I still feel its a cop out by my gp, just to keep me going round in circles, because she knows they will never pescribe me ndt🤷‍♀️

I didn’t find peppermint oil helped with my IBS . There’s a little in my oil based vitamin D & it repeats on me for ages. I think it would be too strong for your very sensitive system

Even without all the fillers 🫣. Useless GP again .

Pharmaceutical peppermint is intended to carry the peppermint oil through the stomach and release it later.

And, while we all associate peppermint with freshness, in the higher concentrations used in these products, it needs to be considered as a potent substance.

Yes, much too potent for me & Birkie, I would expect. I was prescribed the medical capsules but quickly stopped them.

I find betonite clay powder & clay capsules the best treatment for my tricky digestion.
