I’m on a journey with t3 it’s taking a while. Latest bloods reflect 15mcg taken in one dose and 50mcg levothyroxine

I think I need to increase levo but on 75 I was slightly over medicated I felt. A reply on here suggested 62.5mcg as middle road which makes sense to me but pills are tiny and crumbly.

is it ok to alternate 50/75 mcg?

Ferritin is now 63 and folate 37 both of which need to be higher I think? B12 stable but vitamin d drops despite supplementing.

Thanks!

When was your last dose of levo & T3 before the test - how many hours?

For FT3 blood test its better to split your dose into 3 x 5mcgs and take the last 5mcg portion 8-12hrs before the test is due next day.

How much vit D are you taking? Probably you need to increase how much you take. Most people need a minimum of 3,000iu to raise their level to optimal.

Vitamin D should be around 100 - 150. Buy one that includes vit K2 to help it go to your bones. Some are available in oil or you can take it with an oily meal for better absorption. Many members like the ‘Better You’ range of mouth sprays that contain both bit D & K2. Use this calculator to work out how much to take to get your level to 100-150.grassrootshealth.net/projec...

Ferritin should be around 90 - 100 for best use of thyroid hormone. Suggest increasing iron rich foods in diet and eating them often. Chicken livers, pate, red meat etc

What is the range for folate? How much are you taking?

Exactly what was your B12 result and range?

Recommended blood test protocol: Test at 9am (or as close as possible), fasting, last levo dose 24hrs before the blood draw, last T3 dose 8-12 hours before blood draw & no biotin containing supplements for 3-7 days (Biotin can interfere with thyroid blood results as it is used in the testing process).

Testing like this gives consistency in your results and will show stable blood levels of hormone and highest TSH which varies throughout the day. Taking Levo/T3 just prior to blood draw can show a falsely elevated result and your GP/Endo might change your dose incorrectly as a result.

Hi yes I followed that pre test,

Folate just says range is more than 7 nmols/l. B12 is over 150 range 37.5-188 pmols/l

I’m always a bit low in ferritin as I’m vegetarian so need to up supplements again

So folate is OK as is B12. Suggest you focus on ferritin.
