Armour help, please

I’ve been trialing Armour thyroid for 4 weeks (1/2 grain twice daily) - having changed from 125mg Levothyroxine / 5mg Liothyronine.

These are my latest results.

TSH 5.25 (0.35 - 4.94)

T3 3.4 (2.4 - 6)

T4 - 8 (9 - 19.1)

My results in April were:

TSH 0.19 (0.35 - 4.94)

T3 4.2 (2.4 - 6)

T4 12.4 (9- 19.1)

Is this to be expected when changing to Armour or am I simply not taking enough?

1 grain is quite a low dose so indeed you just need to take more.

Are you supplementing your vitamin levels and whith what?

What are your latest results for ferritin, folate, B12 & D3?

Hiya, thanks. Any idea how much more?

Vitamins are all optimal after lots of supplementation.

I can only relate my own experience of being told to get onto 2 grains before testing. As with anything containing T3 you need to do that slowly, a quarter grain every 2 weeks.

Are you splitting your dose? This is important as T3 is an active hormone.

When testing be sure to split your dose into roughly 3 portions taking the last amount 8-12hrs before the blood test is due.

Okay, thank you 🙂

it takes a while to find the right dose. You are on no where near enough. I am on armour but I also added in tirosint (levo).

I think you would benefit an increase. Has your Dr suggested it?

hello definitely your dose is too low. The same happened to me last year when I switched to Erfa (NDT like armour) it took a long while to build the dose up to my current two grains, from half a grain, as others have said needs to be done slowly but it was far too slow for me (6 months to get to right dose) and I felt really rough at the switch. Clearly your results indicate a higher dose is needed.

Hang in there and you’ll be fine once the right dose is achieved. 💜

Your not taking enough. One grain is only about half of what you require.

I forgot to add that when I first taking NDT I was told to raise every two weeks but I found that every 10 days was fine.

Ypu need to aim for a ratio of 1:3 if FT3:FT4 which means, though both are too low, the T4 is proportionally worse. So would you consider adding in some Levo to get the ratio in balance maybe?

Not what you're looking for?
