Hi finally had a private blood test

I have Hashimoto’s, and I am taking 125mcg levothyroxine daily and have B12 injections every 10-12 weeks

Taking D3/K2 supplement plus multivitamin, cod liver oil and vitamin C

Any comments on results would be welcomed

TSH on a GP blood test at slightly later date was 0.24 mU/L (0.27-4.5)

Thank you

Multivitamins never recommended on here

A) you have high ferritin. You must not take any iron supplements

Stop vitamin C it’s possibly increasing your iron levels

B) most multivitamins contain iodine not recommended for anyone on levothyroxine

Stop multivitamins

Instead just take

Daily Vitamin D at slightly higher dose than currently taking

Daily magnesium in afternoon or evening at least 4 hours away from levothyroxine

Daily vitamin B complex

B vitamins best taken after breakfast

Igennus B complex popular option. Nice small tablets. Most people only find they need one per day. But a few people find it’s not high enough dose

Post discussing different B complex

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

Thorne Basic B recommended vitamin B complex that contains folate, but they are large capsules. (You can tip powder out if can’t swallow capsule) Thorne can be difficult to find at reasonable price, should be around £20-£25. iherb.com often have in stock. Or try ebay

IMPORTANT......If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 7 days before ALL BLOOD TESTS , as biotin can falsely affect test results

In week before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate folate supplement (eg Jarrow methyl folate 400mcg)

retest thyroid levels in another 2-3 months

Are you on gluten free or dairy free diet

yes I am on a gluten free diet - after struggling to get any medical advice I decided to try and felt so much better almost immediately I seem to be severely intolerant but have not been diagnosed coeliac as yet

No point reintroducing gluten to get coeliac test

Just stay on gluten free

Only 5% of Hashimoto’s patients test positive for coeliac but a further 81% of Hashimoto’s patients who try gluten free diet find noticeable or significant improvement or find it’s essential

Worth also trying dairy free as well……eventually

Which brand of levothyroxine are you taking

Do you always get same brand at each prescription

Was test early morning and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

Free T4 (fT4) 18 pmol/L (12 - 22) 60.0%

Free T3 (fT3) 4.3 pmol/L (3.1 - 6.8) 32.4%

assuming tested as recommended

Shows you have room to increase dose a little

Perhaps 150mcg twice week and 125mcg 5 days

improving vitamin levels should help improve conversion rate

Brands of levothyroxine tend to be fairly consistent for 100mcg but different brand for 25mcg Yes thanks to this group test was conducted according to correct conditions

Thank you for the detailed information
