Thyroid blood results

Hi

This is my second time of posting as I didn’t include all my results and enough information in my first post.

I have had a blood test done through medicheck I followed all the guidelines, to do test first thing in the morning, before food etc.

I already have sjogrens disease, I have been feeling very unwell for a while, I have had two blood test via my GP and have been told my thyroid is absolutely fine and been completely dismissed.

I have a big family history of thyroid disease.

I have also been taking vitamin D 10000 on prescription for a number of years but I can’t seem to get my levels up, again my GP isn’t bothered by this.

I am not a vegetarian.

I am truly grateful for any help and guidance as I feel very lost with it all right now.

Thank you 💗

It's a shame you've deleted your first post because I think there was information in the responses that was helpful and addressed your thyroid results and maybe other things. I can't remember exactly what the replies to your other post said.

I have been feeling very unwell for a while, I have had two blood test via my GP and have been told my thyroid is absolutely fine and been completely dismissed.

I think it was pointed out in reply to your now deleted post that you are undermedicated, your TSH is too high (likely to feel better when it's 1 or below) and that your FT4 is only 31% through range with FT3 only 27.03% through range. I believe I suggested that you need a 25mcg increase in your Levo dose and to retest 6-8 weeks later, with possible further increases necessary until TSH is 1 or below with FT4 and FT3 in the upper part of their ranges.

This post has references and links to articles that show TSH should be kept low in range. Take whatever you need from them to show your GP and ask for an increase in Levo dose:

I have also been taking vitamin D 10000 on prescription for a number of years but I can’t seem to get my levels up, again my GP isn’t bothered by this.

How often do you take 10,000iu D3?

Is this a tablet, capsule, softgel or what?

Am I right in thinking I gave information about how much Vit D you need to take, plus it's cofactors, for the current level you have (but isn't shown here)? If so have you made a note of all that?

Please add other results, one image can be posted in a reply below. Or type the result/ranges into a reply.

Yes I did because I wanted to post ALL my blood results in one post but for some reason I am having technical issues as I can only post one picture at a time!

I have tried making a folder but I can post that either.

I just felt if I posted all my results individually it would become very confusing.

I am very grateful for any help.

Thank you.

You can only add one image in the opening post then one image per reply, it's not a technical issue that's just how the forum works and we do encourage members to keep everything in one post to avoid the confusion of having results/information spread over several posts. If you can't add images then type results plus ranges into a reply here.

SeasideSusie my sincere apologies for the trouble I have caused today, I have posted a better image now I hope. I was also struggling on my phone, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

SeasideSusie - I am not taking any Levo medication; I take the Vitamin D once a day - it's a solid tablet. Hopefully you can see the better image of my results now.

Reattach in a reply

I had replied in detail about just how low/deficient your B12 is on previous post

You need testing for Pernicious Anaemia BEFORE starting any B12 or Vitamin B complex

Active B12 below 70 needs testing for Pernicious Anaemia via GP

Don’t start any B12 or vitamin B complex before you get tested

I would imagine you have Low B12 symptoms

b12deficiency.info/signs-an...

methyl-life.com/blogs/defic...

GP may start you on B12 injections

If not

With serum B12 result below 500, (Or active B12 below 70) recommended to be taking a separate B12 supplement and add a separate vitamin B Complex after a week

Then once your serum B12 is over 500 (or Active B12 level has reached 70), you may be able to reduce then stop the B12 and just carry on with the B Complex.

If Vegetarian or vegan likely to need ongoing separate B12 few times a week

Interesting that in this research B12 below 400 is considered inadequate

Low folate

supplementing a good quality daily vitamin B complex, one with folate in (not folic acid)

This can help keep all B vitamins in balance and will help improve B12 levels too

B vitamins best taken after breakfast

Thorne Basic B recommended vitamin B complex that contains folate, but they are large capsules. (You can tip powder out if can’t swallow capsule)

Thorne currently difficult to find at reasonable price, should be around £20-£25. iherb.com often have in stock. Or try ebay

IMPORTANT......If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 7 days before ALL BLOOD TESTS , as biotin can falsely affect test results

endocrinenews.endocrine.org...

In week before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate folate supplement (eg Jarrow methyl folate 400mcg) and continue separate B12

Vitamin D

Are you really taking 10,000iu per day

Or did you mean 10,000iu per week or 1000iu per day

Once you reply will add more info on vitamin D

HappydaysDevon profile image
HappydaysDevon in reply toSlowDragon

Yes, tablet is Stexerol-D3, 1000 unit tablets, one a day. Thank you.

1,000iu per day is very low dose

Even NHS guidelines recommend 1600iu per day for 6 months if vitamin D below 50nmol

NHS Guidelines on dose vitamin D required

ouh.nhs.uk/osteoporosis/use...

GP will often only prescribe to bring vitamin D levels to 50nmol.

Some areas will prescribe to bring levels to 75nmol or even 80nmol

leedsformulary.nhs.uk/docs/...

GP should advise on self supplementing if over 50nmol, but under 75nmol (but they rarely do)

mm.wirral.nhs.uk/document_u...

But improving to around 80nmol or 100nmol by self supplementing may be better

pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/218...

vitamindsociety.org/pdf/Vit...

Once you Improve level, very likely you will need on going maintenance dose to keep it there.

Test twice yearly via NHS private testing service when supplementing

There’s a version made that also contains vitamin K2 Mk7.

Please clarify. You said you were taking 10,000iu daily. Now you say 1,000iu daily. I thought Stexerol only came in 1,000iu and 25,000iu strengths.

SlowDragon profile image
SlowDragonAdministrator in reply toSeasideSusie

She’s clarified….only 1,000iu

You have very high CRP - test for inflammation

GP needs to retest CRP again in 6 weeks and find cause

High CRP will result in high ferritin

Ferritin is an acute phase reactant and will increase in presence of inflammation

Your ferritin levels are lowish - you need full iron panel test to see if you are anaemic
