Advice Needed Following Test Results

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism in November 2023 and started on a 50mcg dose of Levothyroxine. In March this year, my GP increased this to 75mcg (50mcg Accord and 25mcg Mercury Pharma). This week I took a private blood test to check my latest thyroid and vitamin status. These are my latest thyroid results:

TSH: 3.64 mU/l (Range 0.27 - 4.2) 85.75%

FT4: 17.5 pmol/l (Range 12 - 22) 55.00%

FT3: 3.8 pmol/l (Range 3.1 - 6.8) 18.92%

My GP is keeping me on 75mcg for the next 8 weeks at least. My understanding from many helpful posts on this forum is that my TSH should be nearer 1 and that my FT3 is too low. Is that correct?

Should I get my key vitamins to an optimal level before asking my GP for a Levo increase? I weigh around 57kgs. My vitamin results are:

Ferritin 99.3 (30 – 332)

Folate Serum 19.8 (7 – 35)

Vitamin B12 Active 91.9 (37.5 – 188)

Vitamin D 81.9 (50 – 250)

All 4 came back from the test marked as normal, but some look on the low side to me. I would appreciate advice on whether I should be supplementing. I don't currently take any supplements.

Thanks for your help.

For the record, I'm female, 66 years old, 5ft 7 inches tall and weigh 57kg.

Total thyroxine T4 93 [59 - 154]

TSH 14 [0.27 - 4.2]

Free thyroxine 14.5 [12.0 - 22.0]

Free T3 3.5 [3.1 - 6.8]

Thyroglobulin Antibody 1035 [0 - 115]

Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies > 600.0 [0 - 34]

so your levels are improving

How are you feeling

Exactly how long since you increased dose levothyroxine

Was test done early morning and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

What vitamin supplements are you taking

I am feeling better but still not 100%. It's 6 weeks since I started on the 75mcg dose. My latest test was done early morning and after fasting. I'm taking no supplements (yet!). My GP agreed to a coeliac blood test and I'm now waiting for the results. I'm inclined to go ahead with a GF trial anyway when I've heard from her (she's not keen on the GF idea).

Just out of interest why is the GP not keen on you being GF? I have heard an ‘insufficient calcium’ argument about dairy-free but not heard any objections to being GF before.

I really think it's simple ignorance of the potential benefits. She said something about it being inconvenient!
