hey All , its been a depressing week having done a trial of t3 only medication which resulted in chest pain, tightness around the throat, pounding heart , breathlessness.
Im at wits end now, ive been on everything nothing works, my life is hell.
The Endo put me on 20mcg of lio at bedtime with LDN and melatonin and 10mcg at 6am. My levels dropped dramatically and the blood test after a week showed tsh 1.5.
Anyway has anyone on this lonley planet had adverse reactions to thyroid medications ?
Ive been on NDT, levo and now t3 only.
Ive had every filler possible so its not the issue.
If you have been like me how have you coped

That is a very big dose of T3 to start taking immediately. You must start on tiny amounts and gradually increase. I was advised by the late Dr. Skinner and was told to cut up my 20 mcg tablet into four tiny pieces and take these spread across the day. Then after a week, take a little more and assess the results and so on, until I was taking a full dose of 20mcg a day. I am very thin, so you probably need the higher dose he has given you eventually and possibly more. It is all trial and error when taking T3 only and as Slow Dragon points out, you must have good levels of vitamins and iron before you begin. There is an excellent book on taking T3 only but the author’s name has escaped me. Paul Robinson, or something similar. I hope another member comes to my rescue. I used it obsessively but gave it away after going back to the T4/3 combo. It is full of useful information on thyroid and vitamins/ minerals etc.
Tolerance of thyroid meds is down to vitamin levels. If you're are low then you will suffer. There is only time that will fix this + getting your ferritin, folate, B12 and D3 results optimal.
This is a mistake I made years ago and only now getting around to putting it all right. My T3 arrives this morning so wish me luck!
i get those sort of symptims when my dose is not right (too low in my case) so likely, as the others have said, that you need a different amount and need to build up gradually.
There are approximate conversions and info on switching on Stop The Thyroid Madness, that might help you move more smoothly from T4 to T3 or combo. stopthethyroidmadness.com/d...
