Marshmellow root or Slippery Elm .: Hello all, I... - Thyroid UK
Marshmellow root or Slippery Elm .
Is this to alleviate GERD symptoms noted in your last post? Just wondering if you are gluten free or have trialled a GF diet. I found this alleviated all my adverse gastric symptoms.
As SlowDragon mentioned, do leave a few hours between supplements and Levothyroxine to ensure there are no absorption issues.
Sorry I cannot comment on the effectiveness of either supplement you mention, as I’ve taken neither. However, I would recommend that you only trial one thing at once. In the past I’ve got into a terrible muddle trialling multiple products, as I couldn’t work out which was having a positive effect!
Hi Buddy195, yes it's to alleviate Gerd Symptoms. Well, sometimes I'm gluten free and sometimes not. Due to , it to Expensive. I'm not sure , if gf reduces. My terrible gastric situation. But I don't think it does. Yes it can make one a little crazy , as it does me , having to take vits and meds together. Thanks for ur help . Have a lovely evening. 🙂🍃
~I became completely gluten free 10+ years ago on advice of Specialist. Never looked back and one must not cheat if trying to heal gut as I was.
Slippery elm will coat your mucosa/lining and soothe - must be taken 4 hours away from meds as there can be contra-indications.
If you are serious about healing your gut I suggest to further research gluten free plan - its not expensive.
Good luck~
I take both together in a supplement, really helps stomach problems, doesnt affect my thyroid.
Goldengirl69,
I used to take slippery elm and marshmellow root together with glutamine which is another gut healer. Slippery Elm I also used to make into little balls to snack on through out the day but obviously don't taken too near thyroid meds.
