Not recommended to take anything at same time as levothyroxine

Leave at least 2 hours between levothyroxine and any supplements

Says here don’t take for more than 4 weeks then important to have a break

looking at your previous posts, it looks like you’re perhaps not on high enough dose levothyroxine

Important to be taking high enough dose

How much levothyroxine are you taking

Which brand is it

Retest thyroid levels 6-8 weeks after each dose increase in levothyroxine

Hi , to be honest I got another Serious thing going on , I got Severe Gerd - reflux. And I've become a bit crazy , uts affected my brain. I don't know what is what . And get Scared and sometimes think its the Levothyroxine, giving me lots of pain , throat pain. Headaches. But I think it's gerd. But it's affect me so badly , sometimes I come of the Levothyroxine. The doctors aren't helping me . They so bad here , void. The Symptoms of Gerd and Levothyroxine, reactions are Similar . But over the years , I have thought , am I underdosed. But it all a nightmare , as don't know what's what. I'm waiting fir 2nd time to see ENT , but so bad , he just sent me away before with ppis , that take pain away a bit . But not do to much. I'm on 75 mg . Levothyroxine.

Gerd is extremely common hypothyroid SYMPTOM

You need to take your 75mcg levothyroxine everyday without fail for at least 8 weeks

Then retest

Likely to need dose increase in Levo after get test results back

Approximately how much do you weigh in kilo

75mcg levothyroxine is only one step up from starter dose

Unless extremely petite, most people will need to be on at least 100mcg levothyroxine per day

Levo doesn’t “top up” your thyroid, it replaces it

Essential to be on high enough dose

Get weekly pill dispenser

Makes it easier to see if forgotten a dose

If you do, take it immediately you realise

Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Request GP test vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin too at least once a year

What vitamin supplements are you taking

I'm size 18-20 gerd has made me have big stomache , and. Thyroid has made me put on weight. I take Ashwanga , when I not on levothyroxine. But somethings telling me to go back on levothyroxine. Years ago I had Cancer, then soon after , doctor in another Area say I had Cancer. Not long after he say I have underative thyroid. And put me on 50mg. Then a while later 75mg levo. I drove him bananas when I had Cancer . And after the 75mg I suspect I needed more levo. And I feel he not give it to me as I was kind of real stressed with Cancer . Anyway I've been in another area for 10 years, my hometown. And keep say I feel I need to be on a higher dose of levo. And they keep say no . It so bad. They say it depends on ur area , if good or bad doctors, bit lowdown here . I'm so Shocked , I not know levothyroxine goes on weight . I'm 5,9 to. I also suprise Gerd is common symptoms of Thyroid . Also unbelievably, they cared and told truth, that I had low folic acid about a year ago, xand have me 3 months worth of Folic acid. But I suspect I still need be on it maby always . I get little bruises to . I thought is this iron , b12 or folic acid the bruises ? Make me crazy , ax they don't care. They say don't go in with big list of ur illnesses . Just 1 or 2 things. It will make no difference. I had iron done privately incase , but they say ut good. But I did cheapo ferritin test at home about 9 months ago , and it say positive . My life is constantly like this . Become depressed, as no one really help .

Hi, I use marshmallow root ,slippery elm or dgl liquorice. Not all at the same time. I've have gastritis and hiatus hernia and the proton pump inhibitors (like omeprezole) made my tummy hurt all the time. So I started with marshmallow root capsules at night. I haven't had any flare ups for the last 2 years. I have marshmallow root for a few weeks. Take a break and then use slippery elm a few weeks. Dgl liquorice if I have a sore throat as it helps with both tummy and great for mouth ulcers too as it works straight away. I used to work at a well know health shop and we were very highly trained in supplements.

All three of the above supplements line the digestive tract, so help with any type of acid problems and even used for collitus.

Marshmallow root Is also good for clearing mucous so brilliant if you have a cold or chest infection. If you look at the ingredients of bronco stop medicine you'll see marshmallow root.

Ppi's aren't supposed to be taken long term but I know several people who've been on them for 10 years!

Hi Locky8, I just wanted to say , Marshmellow root , works the best for me , it a dream. But I just read on a few Google write ups , that It lowers T3 , are. You aware of this. I'm so fed up now, as I thought I found a great herb for my gerd and gastric woes. Basically it's a anti Thyroid herb.

locky8 profile image
locky8 in reply toGoldengirl69

Hi Goldengirl69.Ive been using it on and off for the last 2 years and my T3 levels have been in the top of the range. I do take it just before bed and it's the last pill I take at night. I take magnesium, omega 3 and starflower oil, then marshmallow root. As long as its away from levothyroxine and liothyronine it seems to be working OK and I do rotate with slippery elm and leave it for a few days.

I also take Load off by health 4 all for anxiety but that's a lunchtime tablet. Nothing in the morning after my thyroid meds. I take t3 around 3pm.

It's all a bit of trial and error. But I'm feeling good at the moment. 🤞😉

I was given Pantoprazole and colesevelam after gall bladder removal I stopped them both when I discovered they interact with thyroid meds. (I don’t know why I didn’t check that right away)

I stopped those and take peppermint oil or peppermint oil with oregano capsules. They work great!!

Sometimes strong peppermint tea helps as well.

Hope it works out for you - but you should definitely keep taking your thyroid meds!
