Hypothyroid symptoms but Dr says normal

Hey!

So my recent bloods show;

Tsh 0.01

T4 11 (range 9- 19)

T3 ( 4.5) (range 3 to 7)

Dr says normal but I'm so fluid. My legs swell all the time and make indents in my leg. Confused. Legs are tingling due to water being so bad. I drink alot of water daily as I'm active but the retention is getting worse.

B12 is high

Foliate is on way up

Iron is mid range

Vitamin d is improving.

previous post shows you are also taking 25mcg T3 daily

Taking T3 will almost always lower or suppress TSH

Do you normally split the dose as 2 or 3 smaller doses spread over the day

Day before test ALWAYS split dose ….with last 1/4 tablet approx 8-12 hours before test

Is GP aware you are taking T3

Was last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

Assuming yes

Your results suggest you need 25mcg dose increase in levothyroxine

Retest 6-8 weeks later

Many patients on levothyroxine plus small doses of T3 find they need both Ft4 and Ft3 at least 50-60% through range

please add actual vitamin results

What supplements are you taking

Are you taking any other medicines that might be causing the fluid on your legs? What medicines do you take?

When did you take laast dose of Levo & T3 before this test? What was the timing?

Free T4 (fT4) 11 pmol/L (9 - 19) 20.0%

Free T3 (fT3) 4.5 pmol/L (3 - 7) 37.5%

Test shows levels on the low side. Aim for 70% through range for both if you have timed as per protocol:

Recommended blood test protocol: Test at 9am (or as close as possible), fasting, last levo dose 24hrs before the blood draw, last T3 dose 8-12 hours before blood draw & no biotin containing supplements for 3-7 days (Biotin can interfere with thyroid blood results as it is used in the testing process)?

Testing like this gives consistency in your results and will show stable blood levels of hormone and highest TSH which varies throughout the day. Taking Levo/T3 just prior to blood draw can show a falsely elevated result and your GP/Endo might change your dose incorrectly as a result.
