Can you tell us
How much levothyroxine you are taking and do you always get same brand at each prescription
Was test done as recommended
all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
when were vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 last tested
Please add results
What vitamin supplements are you taking
Do you have autoimmune thyroid disease aka Hashimoto’s usually diagnosed by high thyroid antibodies
Hi Fenioux
Bloods are bloods, but how you feel is so much more important. How are you feeling ? Any results should be considered in relation to how you feel. I know doctors generally don’t understand this but we have to train them 😉
What medication are you on? Are you supplementing vitamin deficiencies etc. bloods are a very incomplete part of the picture. Tell us more 🤗
Feel dreadful all the time (same symptoms as hypo) but doc says thyroid results are fine. Had bloods taken early morning.
so are you currently undiagnosed and not on any replacement thyroid hormones?
When were vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 last tested
Have you ever had thyroid antibodies tested?
You have a few questions from above unanswered, but I scanned some of your old posts and see that you've been diagnosed Hashis about 5 years ago and on some dose of Levo since then.
Is that accurate?
For better advice here - can you fill out your profile or provide more info in this post.
For example, earlier posts say you were started on 25 mcgs of Levo but I can't easily see what you are on now. That's important to know to evaluate your blood test results.
Mathematically - your Free Ts are about 25-30% through range which isn't absolutely horrible, but given your symptoms likely indicates your body needs more to feel better. At the same time, your TSH is under 1, which is where those on Levo generally feel on the better side of things. But TSH is the last thing to look at when titrating dosing.
However, just a quick scan of your posts shows that there are other things you've been diagnosed with over the years, and again - we don't know what hormones or meds you are taking, how long you've been taking them, and the history of your blood test results in relation to how you have felt over time.
So it looks like your main question is:
Do you consider blood results ok or should I keep persevering to be put on thyroxine as I have all the relevant symptoms of hypothyroidsm?
The board can't say for sure with the information provided. Please have a look through the questions above and let us know!
Sorry for confusion.....my fault entirely.I meant to say the current bloods are my daughters. She's struggling and doesn't know where to turn. Her GP isn't interested so she wants to know if her bloods indicate a thyroid problem. As you noted I have Hashis and am on an even keel at the mo. Thank you in anticipation.
AH, ok! How old is she?
Assuming she is not diagnosed and no hormones/medications, you should consider both TPO and TG antibodies tested for her:
* TPOab (Thyroid Peroxidase antibodies)
* TGab (Thyroglobulin antibodies)
Her ferritin is low so you can also consider a full iron panel to determine best course for correcting that. Do not supplement iron without a full iron panel, as her ferritin might be low but her iron might be high. Depending on results, different treatments will be needed.
* Iron
* Total iron-binding capacity (TIBC)
* Transferrin saturation
* Ferritin
* High Sensitivity CRP (CRP-hs)
That being said, my own daughter's Free Ts are similar to your daughters, her Ferritin is similar to your daughters, and her symptoms are similar too. I am choosing to treat her iron before even tackling thyroid, because low iron & thyroid are positively correlated... when one improves, the other will too generally.
However, my daughter differs in that she has a higher TSH. For your daughter to have such low TSH without taking any meds, while have low Free Ts is a thing... but not one I am knowledgeable enough to comment on.
Above are my observations, but definitely don't take my word for it and get some corroboration from others here!
