can anyone recommend a really good probiotic to take bearing in mind I’ve been on a lot and I mean a lot of antibiotics over the past few years for UTIs. For obvious reasons I don’t want to rely on Amazon reviews etc but hear from actual people who have had good results. I would be really grateful if anyone could help. Someone did suggest one in one of my previous posts but I can’t seem to see it!
Thank you 🥰

I don't think that you can beat taking home-made probiotics. Water Kefir is simple to make. There are many videos on YouTube, and other sites showing how to make it. Sauerkraut is another good one. At least you will know that they are live probiotics.
Thanks for reply but I know I’d be hopeless making my own. No staying power I’m afraid plus I don’t enjoy cooking so stay out of the kitchen unless I’ve got too 😂
I've had great results taking Sacchromyces Boulardii. My personal preference is the Jarrow brand, which I order from Amazon. I tested positive for c diff after a hospital stay, and started taking Sacchromyces boulardii when I was discharged. When my levels were tested recently, both pre- and pro-biotic levels were in the excellent range, in spite of multiple rounds of antibiotics over the last few years.
I'm permanently on antibiotics for cuti and I take Bio-kult everyday one and a woman probiotics. I've tried many and tolerate me the best. I also have natural yougurt and kefir to.
Hi, I’ve been taking Symprove for the past few months and it’s been a game changer for me. Not the cheapest though. Also getting Kefir, Kombucha, Sauerkraut, Kimchi and live greek yogurt should really help too 👍
have a look on YouTube at the Zoe nutrition podcasts on the gut… world specialist particularly talks about this problem and problems with pre/probiotics not having been properly tested/researched. He recommends generic saccrhromyces boulardi ( my iPad spell checker keeps changing this, so check spelling) as both the most effective and best value. If you look at other Zoe stuff including written work you will see the importance of eating regular portions of unpasteurised foods like saurkraut ( Sainsbury’s sell one near slaws), kimchi, kombucha, yoghurt, kefir etc and different coloured unprocessed foods to maintain a good gut biome that antibiotics have probably wrecked. Unfortunately takes many months, if not years, to change.
Thanks for all the information. I did consider trying Zoe but it was quite expensive and I had a lot of other stuff going on but will look at their suggestions I tried my GPs but one told me everything I suggested was controversial even probiotics, I kid you not. I’m dairy free which is a slight problem and I bought some kimchi this week to try. I’ve not found a sauerkraut I like yet but blame my German auntie for that as she made the best. My husband is Type 1 diabetic and so we don’t have many processed foods in the he cupboard and try to eat sensibly. It’s the antibiotics that have done the damage and I feel I need more than eating well.
I could only find one manufacturer of unpasteurised sauerkraut sold where I live, Vadasz ( tho different flavours), expensive but I just eat a piled dessert spoon daily. But you could make your own perhaps with Auntie’s recipe! All Zoe research and podcasts are available free, just need to persevere to find YouTube podcasts. The best ones for your problem were Zoe with the gastroenterologist named Dr.Will Bulsiemicz ( I think there are more than one), but he talks specifically about treating the harm of antibiotics in the gut in at least one of them. Good luck.
