Hello again 👋 Well I didn't expect this! I'm just out of A&E after a gallstone attack. Excruciating, until the morphine kicked in. I've been given strong painkillers and antibiotics. I'm a bit miffed, as I've been following a Low Fodmap, anti- inflammatory, pescatarian diet for as long as I can remember. Is there a thyroid link? I'm still on just 50mcg Levo. I've got an appointment with a new endo next month and just wondered if this is connected to hypothyroidism in any way? 🤔

Absolutely, yes. Most hypos end up having their gallbladders removed. Something to do with the way the hypo body handles cholesterol, I believe. But I don't know the details.

That's interesting. Thankyou GG. Probably the slow motility, fatigue, mobility etc doesn't help with the body processing things efficiently.

Exactly. :)

Yes definitely a strong link

Increase in cholesterol due to being left on inadequate dose levothyroxine

Thankyou SD. I have been taking half a tablet more on alternate days (75mcg) as I believed this was the right direction. I am hoping the new endo will endorse this (and add more as required). Apparently she has thyroid problems, so will hopefully be more understanding.

Im surprised you didn’t have gallbladder removed.

I think that's the plan. Once everything is less angry in there. Or do you think it should have been removed there and then? I don't know the protocol.

I had my gallbladder removed several years ago, and that was when I had been brought into hospital during a severe attack of gall stones. Getting it taken out was the best thing I ever did, as attacks were becoming more severe and more frequent.

I remember having to persuade the surgeon to do it there and then, as he was also suggesting to wait until it was less angry/inflamed. That was in Belgium (and effectively a private hospital), so the system might be different.

Wishing you all the best with the operation, whenever you get it.

Thankyou Highroid. Being more informed on this has been so helpful and I have the 1 good GP in our practice keeping an eye on me now. So fingers crossed that the waiting list isn't too long. 100% vision in hindsight - I'd put the last two episodes down to ibs or gerd or food poisoning but I hardly ever vomit so when that happens it's always strange and the people who had some of my food were fine. More pieces of the jigsaw are always helpful. I haven't been to the loo since the attack on Sun/ Mon and am off food. Producing a lot of mucus. But I guess that's normal for about a week?

I didn't really have symptoms except really bad pain in the gut. Can't remember any mucus or what my bowels were doing, sorry. Sounds rough for you, but glad to hear you have one good GP at least.

Hi, have you heard of this-

archive.org/details/andreas...

I did it twice years ago when recommended by alternative health practitioner and passed lots of stones, but there's debate on the net as to whether you're passing stones or just the fat formed into lumps. I tried it again in the more recent past but it just made me sick. Might be worth a read to see what you think.
