Thyroidectomy in Buckinghamshire or Oxfordshire?

Is there anyone on here who has had a partial or full thyroidectomy in Buckinghamshire or Oxfordshire who would be happy to share their experience, good or bad, and provide any tips/advice?

Having had nodules for a number of years, one of mine increased in size in Jan 22. It has recently been categorised as Thy3f and the endo who gave me those results this week has booked me in for a consultation with a surgeon on Monday - she says he will advise part or full thyroidectomy.

Currently this is with the NHS and it is Mr Mclaren I am seeing on Monday. I know he is an experienced thyroid surgeon and appears to be well thought of. However, I do have AXA health insurance so have the option of switching to private, but he is not someone they cover. If I decide to go ahead with surgery I'll have a decision to make as to whether to stick with him on the NHS or explore other options privately.

To help me with this, I'd love to hear about anyone else's experiences in Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, either with this surgeon or others, and NHS or private. (Of course in line with forum rules please message me privately if giving opinions on specific doctors, but I am very happy to receive that info 🙂)

Thank you in advance
