After sending my private blood results to Dr refused to increase levo had phone appointment, kept insisting TSH suppressed & danger of osteoporosis. I tried to keep calm to explain my thoughts & where I'd research my information. Dr then asked which lab I'd used & where was it..... Quite upset/annoyed after so I wrote him an email with the vitamin regime, where the lab is(Medichecks) so I then end up with a call from medical centre by pharmacist who again suggested reduce levo again refused and went through vitamin regime so we left it at blood test in 2-3months. When I checked on my NHS app only put figures in wrong & felt I was on to much Vit D 10,000iu + AdCal 10mg, anyway see how it goes. Had B12 equivalent at my surgery
426 (110-914) which I think is low so I'm taking B12(methylcobalamin) 1300iu with MSM 130mg planning another private blood test just to see if an improvement.
Now gone gluten free, dairy free next week & I've stopped coffee & tea😥 🤞I'm now on right track but amazed how little doctors know or even care so follow the outdated guidelines.
Thanks for reading

2. We can prescribe doses of LT4 which do result in TSH suppression, but are associated with unequivocally normal serum T3 concentrations as I am unaware that this combination of results has ever been proved a risk factor for atrial fibrillation or reduced bone mineral density, and why should it if the level of the active hormone is normal?
Well done for making a stand. It's hard but nothing is that clear cut... Not like the medics try to make out.. So once you ask them to substantiate their claims with evidence, most of the time they can't. And if they do it leads to a discussion...
On the dairy/gluten front. Try excluding one at a time for about three months. Not everyone benifits from cutting gluten or dairy out. For me gluten was a must but not dairy. For others neither helps. If you do both at once you won't know which..
Thank you, I've had more information & support here than at my medical centre. Yes that's what I aim to do been gluten free about two weeks, soya already cut out. Dairy next as I've some kefir & sheep cheese to finish have found stomach not always happy plus I've to remember the food intolerances I have & ovoid those too
I like this link to the Thyroid UK website. It lists several myths of hypothyroidism, including the myth that a suppressed TSH leads to Osteoporosis. Assume that your doctor knows what a 'myth' is.
With serum B12 result below 500, (Or active B12 below 70) recommended to be taking a separate B12 supplement and add a separate vitamin B Complex after a week
Then once your serum B12 is over 500 (or Active B12 level has reached 70), you may be able to reduce then stop the B12 and just carry on with the B Complex.
If Vegetarian or vegan likely to need ongoing separate B12 few times a week
Igennus B complex popular option too. Nice small tablets. Most people only find they need one per day. But a few people find it’s not high enough dose
IMPORTANT......If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 7 days before ALL BLOOD TESTS , as biotin can falsely affect test results
In week before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate folate supplement (eg Jarrow methyl folate 400mcg) and continue separate B12
Post discussing how biotin can affect test results
I'm on a 100mcg I think I'd do better on 125 eod as my weight is around 74kgs but I'm happy to go with a B complex & see how I do. Brand at moment is Aristo but my pharmacy has trouble getting same brand. Look at pharmacy 2u but couldn't guarantee same brand. It is on my prescription for Accord I've requested change to Aristo. Yes feeling better miss my bread, made my own but used coconut oil & I've a food intolerance silly me I forgot.
No plans as yet to blood test need to give supplements to 'bed in' thanks for your input.
