Where do I go from here?

After the problem with delay in receiving meds, this am I find I should take 2.5mgs Pred 3 daily and1tab Adcal -d3 twice daily. No phone call from surgery advising me of when to take them or should I take Adcal since I have been on prescription VitD for many years.

Adcal strange taste

I have taken Adcal for years but I opened a new batch and found the tablets had a strange taste so opened a second pack... they were fine. Now my next lot have the same strange taste. Has anyone else noticed this?

Adcal and Pred

Would one of our experts please clarify taking Adcal and Pred at the same time please. I currently take all of my Pred, Metamorfin, Lanzaprosal and adcal with my breakfast. What should I be doing? Is the Pred ineffective if taken at the same time as Adcal?

ADCAL and RISEDRONATE

My prednisolone is down from 15mg to 2.5 mg after 30 months but the others have stayed at the same dose (Adcal @3000 mg daily and Risedronate @ 35mg weekly) - I'd really love that extra half hour in bed back on a Wednesday morning in the depths of winter!!! Trish

Alternatives to Adcal

Hi I responded badly to Adcal and my GP said there would be enough calcium in my diet. I take vitD and K2 plus multi vitamin daily and I’m on 8mgs Pred. However, I’ve been on a bio-sulphate for over three years and want to stop. Any suggestions as to another kind of calcium I could take? Thanks!

Adcal-D3

Has anyone had this prescribed? I went to collect my monthly prescription and this was added to it. I wasn’t expecting it and of course googled it. But just wondered if anyone else has had it and if they experienced side effects. Thankyou

Vit D levels

Afternoon all Had some of my blood tests back and the only abnormal one at the moment is the Vit D, which I had thought might be low, but is this an AdCal job or something else needed? Serum total 25-OH vit D level 39.4 nmol/L 50 - (normal) Many thanks, as always. Peter

Adcal-D3 and Alendronic Acid

When pred was first prescribed I was also prescribed Adcal-D3 and Alendronic Acid. Why? Are these reduced as the pred is reduced, now on 8 down from 20?

Is ADCAL dangerous?

My GP put me on ADCAL when he diagnosed PMR and started Prednisolone. At my first telephone consultatioon with a rheumy (I sacked him yesterday!) he said to come off it as it is dangerous. I am not on any calcium medication. Anyone confirm this or make any comment? Thanks.

Magnesium and MBC

I take Ibrance and Letrazole together with a monthly Denosumab injection and Adcal +D3. I’ve been having bad cramp in my legs and hands. Mostly wakes me during the night. My Cancer Nurse advised Magnesium.

Second DEXA Scan Results

I did leave hospital with Adcal and Alendronic Acid both of which I stopped taking after a very short time as I get enough calcium in my diet and with the Adcal I was overdosing and had a reaction to the AA.

Calci-D,will reducing dose cause me a problem?

I have been prescribed calci-D twice daily but I then have bad constipation so I have reduced dosage to one every other day which seems to help as my steroids and strong painkillers also can cause constipation.I was on Adcal but prescription was changed, but no reason given.I have Movicol daily which

Recent hip replacement following trip on drive now prescribed Adcal D3. Read this can lead to strokes and heart attacks over time.

Will a calcium and D3 diet be better than taking Adcal D3. Also on 20 mg omeprazole which can lessen calcium absorption.

Radiation and MBC

I take 5 Adcal +D3 over every two day period. I wondered if my level dropped due to Radiation but apparently this isn’t so. I have to increase the Adcal now. I have started taking Magnesium due to cramp, some of you lovely ladies on here recommended it. It has been great. It has worked.

Osteoporosis treatment

I take Adcal but realise with 3/4” height loss I need to be on something that will increase bone density. My question therefore is has anyone else been in a similar position and what medication are you on for this and any side effects? Thank you

Inflammation dampening??

Is the pmr inflammation beginning to subside, is it the Joe Wickes squats I'm doing, is it because I couldn't get Adcal for last 3 nights or is it because I'm actually feeling better on 5mg? I certainly couldn't manage 5mg in 2019. I intend to stay here for 3 months.

Pain in ribs at night

I take Presnisolone for PMR (since March 2020) and my GP prescribed 4 tabs per day of AdCal about 7 weeks ago - with the first episodes of night pain starting about a week later. The results of a recent Dexa scan shows I have osteoporosis (T score on spine -3.9).

Itching.

Every time I call the doctor I seem to be fobbed off and given an extra medication to add to my ever increasing collection, I’m currently on levo, citalopram, naproxen, stemetil, adcal, norethisterone, omeprazole and now they want me to take antihistamines for the itching.
