Blood and goiter results help!

Hi all, I'm not too sure about my results and need some help please. My TPO's and TGA are high. I have two goiters one with pre cancerous cells. I have enclosed the results of a scan I had in May.

I have been referred to an Endocrinologist for another ultrasound. Is there anything I should ask or be concerned about re the test results at my appointment apart from the pre-cancerous cells!

The isthmus measures 2.28mm

The right lobe measures 49x16x21

The left lobe measures 51 x15 x 21 mm

A hypoechoic well-defined solid nodule with internal vascularity and multiple small calsified FOCi was idientified in the right lobe of the thyroid measuring 7 x 5 x 7mm.

A 2 x 2 nodule was noted on the left lobe of the thyroid.

My blood results from Medichecks are as follows:

Ferritin 101.00 ug/L Range 30 - 650

B12 Active 91.2 pmol/L Range 37.5 - 188

Vit D 69.2 nmol/L Range 50 - 250 ( I'm on the low side so need to self medicate)

TSH 0.778 mIU/L Range 0.27 - 4.2

Free T3 4.5 pmol/L Range 3.1 - 6.8

Free Thyroxine 15.2 pmol/L Range 12 - 22

Thyroglobulin 142. kIU/L Range 0 - 115

Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies 91.8 kIU/L Range 0 - 34

Free T4 (fT4) 15.2 pmol/L (12 - 22) 32.0%

Free T3 (fT3) 4.5 pmol/L (3.1 - 6.8) 37.8%

I would say that your FT4 and FT3 are on the low side although your TSH is pretty good. It's a mixed picture along with the positive thyroid antibodies.

Likely you are in the early stages of Hashimoto's which can wax and wane for a number of years before treatment is required.

How do you feel?

Do you also have a result for folate?

Ferritin is good but D3 could be a little higher. 100-150 is said to be optimal. Buy one that includes vit K2 to help it go to your bones. Some are available in oil or you can take it with an oily meal for better absorption. Use this calculator to work out how much to take to get your level to 100-150. wildatlantichealth.com/vita...

With positive antibodies it would be worth trialling a strictly gluten free diet which helps many symptoms wise. Dairy can also be an issue for some and again worth trialling eliminating it from your diet.

I can't comment on the goitre results but keep retesting thyroid levels every 3-4 months to keep an eye on levels.

Hi Jaydee1507, thank you for your response.

I feel shattered sometimes but its probably my age I'm 70. Quite active though.

I did have a hair loss problem 2 years ago but seem to have sorted that out now after spending fortunes on products and improving my ferritin levels.

I have no idea if anyone suffers my new ailment or it's another medical issue, but from my knees down in the winter they feel like blocks of ice. I continually wear long socks until around May time. This is a new thing but prior to that I have always suffered cold hands feet, and nose. Not sure if it's connected, if not and it's still happening this winter I will contact my GP. I did mention the new ailment to my Endo, but she said it's nothing to do with the thyroid. I did wonder if anyone else has this problem on here or she's just fobbing me off.

I am trying hard to be completely gluten free. Most of the time I'm on the case. I drink the occasional coconut milk decaf latte around 5 per week. Occasionally milk in a cup of tea which isn't that often. Other than that, I drink chamomile tea. I will try harder now you have said its worth eliminating to see what happens when I have my bloods taken again.

I have Vit D with K2 here so now I have had the blood results I will start the regime again.

I am going to try and stay in the NHS System to be monitored, I think they should with 2 goiters and one with pre cancerous cells. I can't keep affording to pay private because my GP refused to refer me 3 times! In the end the private clinic wrote to the GP expressing his concerns and suggested it would be worth me seeing a endo specialist. It's dreadful we have to beg and pay to be seen.

A huge thank you to this group and the administrators. I really don't know what we would all do without it. The knowledge and communication between us all is paramount.
