'Interim' GP blood results and trying to draw conclusions

Hello,

A GP I saw recently (long story but not same one who gave me increase in Levo) ordered bloods.

I have been on 100 mcg of Accord for 4 weeks, so wasn't planning to test for another month.

The following were tested, I've included the same NHS results for comparison earlier this year.:

NHS

TSH FEB .65 AUG .17* (0.55-4.78)

T3 FEB not tested AUG 5.5* (3.50-6.50) 66.7%

B12 FEB not tested AUG 359* (180-900) 24.9%

FOL. FEB NT AUG 6.1* >3

Iron FEB NT AUG 17* (10-30)

Trans. Sat. FEB NT AUG 33.8%* (20-50)

S.TRANSFERRIN FEB NT AUG 2* (2-4)

S.CORTISOL FEB NT AUG 509* <450 does not exclude adrenal insufficiency

Starred*= tested according to protocol here

As you can see there are gaps in the results so no comparisons in several cases, but since I've been on 100mcg levo for 4 weeks, I'm interested to hear any views on my FT3 - it's good, right?

It's annoying FT4 was not included (the irony!). I've included the other results for the sake of anything which someone ught pick up on.

Re B12, it is low. This bears out a single Blue Horizon Active B12 test I did a couple of days earlier under correct conditions and that came back as:

Active B12 JUN 60.5 AUG 55 (37.5-188)

I had not been supplementing deliberately for 3-4 weeks beforehand in order to get a clearer picture. I'm still waiting to talk to the gp who offered B12 jabs, but have put myself on very high dose sublingual (Nature Provides) liquid and sub lingual tablets to the amount of 10.000 mcg daily. To see if it does anything.

I will restart Liposomal B Complex in a day or two - or, since I already know my B12 is low, shall I just start the B complex straightaway?

I will retest privatelty in a month for direct comparison.

I don't feel much has changed fatigue-wise.

I'm waiting for an adrenal cortisol test.

Thanks for any views as always.🌺

This is better even if black and white. I am definitely low in cortisol.

B12 too low

You will need separate B12 as well as vitamin B complex initially

With serum B12 result below 500, (Or active B12 below 70) recommended to be taking a separate B12 supplement and add a separate vitamin B Complex after a week

Then once your serum B12 is over 500 (or Active B12 level has reached 70), you may be able to reduce then stop the B12 and just carry on with the B Complex.

If Vegetarian or vegan likely to need ongoing separate B12 few times a week

Yes these are Highly effective B12 drops

In week before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate folate supplement (eg Jarrow methyl folate 400mcg) and continue separate B12

Thanks SlowDragon, I'll get on the B12 for sure.

Re adrenals, I'm tagging Hidden - you were right to get me to test, big thank you😀!!

Now what do I do?

I'm also tagging SeasideSusie and TiggerMe to ask if you could help with re my low cortisol result above?

Apologies if I've got the wrong people, I have a vague recollection of you guys talking about adrenals.

I have got Thorne Adrenal Cortex ready to go, should I start on 50mg twice daily?

Anything else I need to do?

Thanks 😊
