Hello everyone

I would appreciate your thoughts on my recent blood tests.

I had been advised by my endo (private) to stop taking T3 and go back to 125g Thyroxine. ( he didn’t think I was benefiting from the T3) I didn’t feel that this info was correct for me so have been taking 100g + 10g litho split into 5g twice a day. Tbh don’t feel very much different and wonder whether from my results you would suggest that I take the endos advice ? My gut feeling is to up to 125g thyroxine along with the t3., but as my TSH remains to be rather low, I’m not sure whether to try that.

Thanks again for any help you can give

TSH 0.028 mIU/L (0.27 - 4.2) -6.2%

Free T4 (fT4) 18.2 pmol/L (12 - 22) 62.0%

Free T3 (fT3) 4.7 pmol/L (3.1 - 6.8) 43.2%

T4:T3 Ratio 3.872

Thyroglobulin Antbodies (TgAb) 10.50 IU/mL (≤ 115)

C-Reactive Protein (CRP) 4.760 mg/L (≤ 3)

Vitamin B12 94.0 nmol/L (37.5 - 188) 37.5%

Vitamin D 101.0 nmol/L (50 - 250) 25.5%

If those were my results I would increase T3 by 5mcg at this stage, retest in 6-8 weeks. We should only change one thing at a time.

Presumably you followed our advised protocol for testing

* No later than 9am

* Nothing to eat or drink except water before the test

* Last dose of Levo 24 hours before the test and the day before the test split T3 into 2 or 3 doses and take last dose 8-12 hours before the test

* No biotin or B Complex or any other supplement containing biotin for 3-7 days before the test.

T3 won't do much for you if you don't take enough of it. And, your FT3 is very low, so I don't think you are taking enough. The endo probably just doesn't feel comfortable with you taking it, so wants to stop it. That is not a good reason to make yourself ill. :)

I was thinking similar! I have enough litho to keep me going for quite some time, just a little concerned about supplies in the future!

Ask on here for people to PM you their trusted sources of on-line T3. But, when someone does, check with an admin that it is a bona fide source and not a scam!

Thank you I will do that

I agree with your response. The difference between T4 to T3 is a turn-about from unwell to well.

I think some Endos are nervous so they don't prescribe what they'd like to give patient.

Looked through all previous your previous posts

Can’t see you have ever had BOTH TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested for autoimmune thyroid disease

What was reason for partial thyroidectomy

Can you check all historic results for antibody results

About 90% of primary hypothyroidism is autoimmune thyroid disease, usually diagnosed by high thyroid antibodies

Autoimmune thyroid disease with goitre is Hashimoto’s

Autoimmune thyroid disease without goitre is Ord’s thyroiditis.

Both are autoimmune and generally called Hashimoto’s.

Low vitamin levels are extremely common when hypothyroid, especially with autoimmune thyroid disease

20% of autoimmune thyroid patients never have high thyroid antibodies and ultrasound scan of thyroid can get diagnosis

In U.K. medics hardly ever refer to autoimmune thyroid disease as Hashimoto’s (or Ord’s thyroiditis)

Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins

Medichecks and BH also offer private blood draw at clinic near you, or private nurse to your own home…..for an extra fee

Assuming you do have autoimmune thyroid disease it’s always worth trying gluten free and/or dairy free diet

Hi SlowDragon. Reason for partial thyroidectomy was swelling in neck. Tested for cancer but was negative didn’t give any more explanations! I don’t believe I’ve had antibodies test done in the past .it’s. It’s not something that has ever been mentioned. My recent medi checks result show Thyroglobulin antibodies 10.50. Range 0 -115

Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies >9kIU/L. Range 0-34

So both negative

Would still be worth experimenting with gluten free diet to see if improves gut absorption of levothyroxine, brain fog, and reduction in symptoms

ok thanks for that. Would you keep my dose of thyroxine + t3 the same ?

Personally I would find that Ft3 too low and would increase to 3 x 5mcg …. Roughly 8 hour intervals
