Info...

My last iron infusion was October 2022.

I started high dose vitamins tablets recommended here on 1st January 2023.

Following the March results, I switched to drops and sprays.

Ferritin

I thought the Medichecks high ferritin was a blip because my NHS tests are looking good.

The recent TDL retest was part of a full thyroid panel for a Dr as the Medichecks results were over 2 months old, it's high ferritin again. Yet my NHS test two days before (this is a routine Quarterly iron panel I have for the haemotology consultant) is showing ferritin has lowered. I'm so confused.

I will send the Medichecks and TDL results to my haemotology doctor as I have an appt next week but in the meantime is it sensible to continue supplementing with the 10mg of iron + 1000mg vitC per day?

VitD

I'm pleased this is slowly on the up and will continue with the BetterYou D3000+K2 (tastes lush!).

VitB12

This is marked as HIGH but I believe I'm aiming for higher? Am I ok to continue on PinkTribe Bcomplex drops (B12 500ug) and Nature Provides B12 drops (3000mcg) daily? (I also take daily folate drops 1000ug)

Thank you in advance!

386nmol/L = 523 pg/ml

Looking at your latest Active B12 result, what makes you think you should be aiming higher? It's way over range and for Active B12 we always suggest 100 plus and for serum B12 (your NHS test) we say a minimum of 550pg/ml but better nearer the top of the range. For Active B12 below 70 we would suggest taking a separate B12 supplement for a short while but for over 70 we'd say a B Complex may be enough.

Unfortunately you have results from multiple labs and I don't believe you can compare them accurately, this is definitely so with ferritin as this has been discussed before on the forum and the member involved contacted Medichecks about the disparity between results from different labs and the response basically was to stick to the same lab!

So the problem you have with your B12 result is do you rely on the test result from that lab or could it be inaccurate?

Ahhh ok I’ve got in a pickle with active v serum B12.

Going forward, I only get iron panel on NHS.

I’ll stick with TDL for the others. I’ll just take B complex drops now it’s looking high. If I stop the B12 drops I’ll hopefully see a change when I next retest.
