Your Ferritin level seems to be fine. It's often suggested that it should be half way through and some experts say the optimal level for thyroid function is 90-110ug/L.

Was CRP tested? Ferritin can be raised when inflammation is present so it's always helpful to have CRP (an inflammation marker) tested when Ferritin is tested. If no inflammation present then the ferritin level should be accurate.

Hello SeasideSusie and thanks for your comments. CRP wasn't tested - I will remember that next time. I also noticed as I was trawling the results that Iron is 18 (range of 10-30) - does that sound reasonable?

Serum iron is suggested to be optimal at 55-70 % through range (higher end for males). Yours is 40% through range.

Was saturation percentage tested and TIBC or Transferrin ?

Hello again SeasideSusie. Sorry to take so long to reply. These are the iron results - I haven't a clue what they mean, but possibly low?

TIBC 45 (range 45-72)

Transferrin Satn 40% (16-50). Consider Haemochromatosis if >40% for females.

Thanks for your reply. I have some symptoms - burning feet if I walk for more than half an hour and a painful forearm reminiscent of a frozen shoulder when I was first diagnosed. Difficult to confirm if thyroid related though.

hmmm I get a funny arm if my B12 is low but that can’t be your thing with that B12

Hmmm 🤔 what are your thyroid hormone levels? I wonder if under/over medication may affect your feet?

TSH <0.01 mIU/L (0.35 - 5)

Free T4 (fT4) 15.6 pmol/L (9 - 21) 55.0%

Free T3 (fT3) 5.5 pmol/L (3 - 6) 83.3%

I have an endo appointment next week and I suspect they will try to reduce T4🥺

I hope they're reflected in the way you feel?

Hello Alanna012. I take a range of supplements every day. Its a pain as I can't take them four hours either side of twice daily thyroid meds but I try.
